RuPaul's Drag Race: RuPaul, Sashay Away

RuPaul's Drag Race: RuPaul, Sashay Away

This week, we bring Cameron on to explain RuPaul’s Drag Race to Neeta, who has never seen a single episode (sorry I’m a bad queer y’all!). Cameron recaps the origins of the show, from the first few seasons on to how we got to the Drag Race empire we have now. Neeta and Cameron discuss the commodification of Drag, the tropes of Reality TV when coinciding with the tropes of queer representation in media, what happens when counter culture becomes pop culture, and what we lose when it does. Diversions this week include being in our stoner eras with Lorde, Phoebe Bridgers’ Metallica cover on the Metallica Blacklist, and still shopping at Hot Topic. We get into everything from who is watching this show now, who the show was originally for, why that all matters and so much more, this week on “B***h, Why?”.

    WandaVision: Let Women Be Evil

    WandaVision: Let Women Be Evil

In our final episode with Alyssa, we talk all things WandaVision (cue literally any of the seven WandaVision theme songs)! Neeta was forced to watch all of WandaVision in one nine hour sitting by Alyssa, something they will not let Alyssa forget. We discuss whether or not the WandaVision sitcoms are actually good as sitcoms, the problem with fan theories, and how the show uses sitcom tropes to comment on ideals of “The American Dream”. Neeta wishes we could let Marvel heroes be villains who are afforded more complexity, considering how well the show covers addiction and grief. Katelyn is back for a Hot Take, Alyssa reveals how many times she’s seen this show, and so much more, this week on “Bitch, Why?”.

    Loki: Tom Hiddleston, Call Me

    Loki: Tom Hiddleston, Call Me

Our special guest, Alyssa, is back this week to talk Loki and all the “wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff” that happened this season! We, of course, compare this show to Doctor Who and Neeta explains why Marvel is incapable of telling good queer stories. We get R-Rated in Bitch Time, Alyssa explains her gripes with the “self-cest”, and we get VERY existential about the themes of free will and determinism in this show. We also have our surprise guest back for Harris’s Hot Take, and so much more, this week on “Bitch, Why?”.

Black Widow: Baby’s First Bourne Movie

Black Widow: Baby’s First Bourne Movie

In order to give Gaia a little break from having to consume Marvel content, we have a special guest this week to talk about Black Widow: resident Marvel expert and Neeta’s oldest friend, Alyssa Mendoza! We cover Scarlett Johannson’s lawsuit against Disney (Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point) and make lots of comparisons to the Bourne and Mission: Impossible movies. Alyssa can’t pronounce “Taskmaster”, we get mad over the fact that a woman probably could have written this movie better, Bitch Time mostly consists of fangirling over Florence Pugh’s character Yelena, and we lose our minds over the scene where Rachel Weisz suffocates pigs (why does she do that?!). We also have a surprise guest for Harris’s Hot Take, and so much more, this week on “B***h, Why?”.
Stay tuned for our Loki, Wandavison, and Falcon and Winter Soldier deep dives!

    Jennifer’s Body: Should We Kiss?

    Jennifer’s Body: Should We Kiss?

We covered Jennifer’s Body this week to celebrate a whole year of ‘Bitch, Why?’! We start out listing all the amazing songs that have come out recently and have a moment solely dedicated to discussing Princess Diana. Neeta and Gaia get into everything Jennifer’s Body from Megan Fox’s career to unrealistic dialogue to gay awakenings (ladies really be KISSING in this movie) to how girls struggle with having a personal relationship with sex! We absolutely gush over this movie and how it is so rich with metaphor that it is just asking to be overanalyzed. We debate whether or not this movie would actually 'kill' today or if we all needed 10 years to really get it. We also, of course, end up comparing this movie to Miss Rodrigo’s ‘Sour ' and so much more this week, on "B***h, Why?".

In The Heights: Get Me Away From Realism

In The Heights: Get Me Away From Realism

This week we covered the new film adaptation of Lin Manuel Miranda’s superior musical In The Heights. Gaia gives us some sweet Sour Patch Kids bag opening ASMR, Neeta cries about community and being from an immigrant family, and we are almost forced to give Lin Manuel Miranda his flowers for this one. Gaia also outs themselves as someone who still doesn’t know NYC geography even though they’ve lived in New York for three years. We talk about theater elitism, Shakespeare comparisons, Bollywood musicals, and, of course, we get into the colorism controversy.
