“My scripture study changed when I stopped reading Nephi’s story and I started reading my story.” My professor’s words echoed in my ears as I exited the building to read my scriptures. The only problem was…I had no idea what he meant! I sat down with just my semi-worn copy of the Book of Mormon and an intense hunger to understand and started reading. And what I found impacted me so deeply that seven years later I decided to share what he taught me in a podcast with you. So join me, as together we dive Into the Words. 9: Let Us Go Up, Part I

9: Let Us Go Up, Part I

    1 Nephi 3: 10-31; 4:1-3.

I remember it vividly. It was a stormy Tuesday evening, rain lashing against my window, much like the tempest within my own heart. The calling before me seemed insurmountable, a constant reminder of my past failures. The weight of those letdowns bore down on me, casting shadows that threatened to eclipse any flicker of hope.

Could I dare to venture forth again, even when the very thought sent shivers down my spine? The rational part of me, the voice of experience, demanded that I heed the lessons history had etched into my soul, to give in to the temptation of walking away from what seemed impossible. But just like the unwavering voice of faith that spoke to those ancient travelers, there was a persistent whisper within my heart. It urged me to push forward, to defy the weight of past disappointments, to embrace audacious belief in my own strength.

"Let us go up again," it repeated, resonating through the chambers of my heart. And so, with bated breath, I delved into the story, eager to find the courage and strength to face my own impossible tasks and to discover, within its ancient verses, a wellspring of hope for my very own journey.

    8: We Took Our Journey

    1 Nephi 3:1-9

My heart thumped heavily in the dim glow of my room as I traced the ancient words on the page. Lehi's family story unfolded before me, a parallel to the turmoil of my own Tuesday night. Doubts lingered, a tempest within, much like the conflicts faced by those nomads in the wilderness. It hit me—our stories intertwined, a collision of past and present, duty and doubt. This is Into the Words, where Lehi's journey mirrors mine in the quiet, unspoken battles of faith and the uncharted territories of our narratives.
