Peters description of false teachers is a warning for all believers: Be careful not to return to the sins that had mastery over you. Instead, pursue the way of righteousness in obedience to your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Peter reassured the believers that God would deal with false teachers in His infinite power and righteousness. He cited three awe-inspiring examples of how God must confront injustice. Yet, even in the face of such judgment, God's mercy shines through, a testament to His divine nature.

Peters concerns about depraved false teachers who denied the Lord, deceived the people, and brought disrepute to the Way of the Lord remain just as relevant today as they were in the first century. We must deal with the darkness of false teaching by bringing the light of God's glory.
