This is a composition of Oottukkaadu Venkata Subbaiar (ഊത്തുക്കാട് വെങ്കട സുബ്ബയ്യർ aka വെങ്കട കവി) who lived in early 18th century (300 years ago). He’s
known for his Tamil devotional compositions on lord Krishna (including the popular Alaipaayuthe, Thaaye yesodaa (തായേ യശോദാ), Kuzhaloothi manamellaam, Paal vadiyum mukham), Navavarana kritis and many other gems. He was a scholar in Tamil and Sanskrit, with mastery over melody and rhythm, and viewed in the same stature as the trinity of Carnatic music.
