Episode 306: Becoming the Successful Latina She Never Saw Growing Up with Babba Rivera

Episode 306: Becoming the Successful Latina She Never Saw Growing Up with Babba Rivera

Babba Rivera, Founder & CEO of Ceremonia, is a hustler who tells it like it is. Being born in Chile and growing up in Sweden, Babba often felt like an outsider, but today, she credits that upbringing with giving her the tools she needed to become successful. Aspiring entrepreneurs and Small Biz Owners, take notes on this one!

In this episode, we cover Babba’s incredible brand marketing career journey at Uber, which led to a role with another well-known DTC brand. A few months in, she decided to quit this steady job despite being on a work visa and without having much savings, in order to launch her own marketing agency. When the pandemic created challenges for many of her agency’s clients, she got the push she needed to launch an innovative, clean hair care brand rooted in Latina heritage, and to be the founder that other Latina girls & women could look up to.

In addition to her career journey, you’ll hear about Babba’s thoughts on “having it all, but not having it all at once,” the shame and double standards she faced as a new mama while her business was still early stage, and how her white husband opened her eyes to perspectives she never even thought of as a minority woman.

We’ll also hear from LIVELY ambassador DeAna Fierce, who teaches women how to build sustainable confidence in their lives so they can show up more confident & authentic on and offline.

Episode 301: Finding Success in Failure with Erin Foster

Episode 301: Finding Success in Failure with Erin Foster

Erin Foster is the definition of authenticity, and always keeping it real while laughing (and making other people laugh) along the way. She is the Co-Founder of Favorite Daughter, a podcaster, a writer & producer (see: VH1’s “Barely Famous”), an advisor & investor, and most importantly, a daughter, sister, aunt, and wife. In our newest episode, we chat with Erin about the hardships of relationships, insecurities around status and feeling “less than,” and what it’s like launching and running a brand with her sisters (cue all the #SisterFights).

In the first new episode of 2022, Erin walks us through what it was like taking a job at Bumble without having prior tech experience, feeling seriously underestimated, but finding that moment of discomfort was actually a superpower. She also shares how failures in various areas of her life (like relationships) led to successes, and the YOLO moment that led to the birth of the sister co-founded clothing brand, Favorite Daughter. The realness, relatability, and inspo knows no bounds in this episode - you don’t want to miss this one!

We’ll also hear from LIVELY Ambassador Desiree Curry, who co-founded Dare 2 Be with her mom, an organization creating a safe space and community for women and girls to learn, heal, and grow. She shares her journey with mental health and healing, and how that led to her YOLO moment to create a community for women.
