Christmas 2020, new lockdowns, expat email management and expat ‘snobbery’, real or not?
It’s Christmas week 2020, finally!
This week’s four fat questions
* How do you manage Lockdown #3?* How do you deal with four different lives in one email box?* Is there such a thing as expat snobbery?* What’s on your table for Christmas lunch?
Our favourite things
Kirsty wrote half her book in NaMoWriMo. 40,000 words, go Kirsty!
The High Low – again, the very last episode or the one before with Graham Norton? It doesn’t matter they were both so great.
Louis Theroux – the Sia interview and the Jon Ronson one, then the Jon Ronson rabbit hole which led her to The Last Days of August.
Listening to a ‘best of 2020’ podcast episode Nikki realised she’d missed out on some of them so returned to Canary and it was so worth it.
For some lighter listening Dead Eyes is worth the time.
Industry – a UK tv take on Investment banking,

What would my non expat kids be like? University applications for the expat teen and can a country ever love you back?
Welcome back Fatterati!
This week’s four fat questions
* Do you think your kids would be different had they not grown up as Cross Culture Kids? How?* How do you go about college/university applications for your expat teen?* What are your three favourite Christmas movies?* You can love a city but can it ever love you back? If a city could love you as much as you loved a city, which city loved you the most? Which one was the best for you, which city loved you back?
Our three favourite things for this week
Kirsty has (like the rest of the world) been obsessed with the Crown and gone down the youtube rabbit hole.
Here’s the episode of Ladies we need to talk “The Secret Lives of Vaginas”.
And This American Life and the “Americans in Paris”.
Nikki reminded us to capitalise our hashtags or should I say #CapitaliseYourHashtags. Here’s a great article on why
https://www.boia.org/blog/make-your-hashtags-accessible
She also shared this article from Lindy West from 2013 that might just make you feel a little differently about Love Actually
We also discussed Nikki’s mourning of the end of the High Low.
See you next week Fatterati, but if you want to chat in the meantime head on over to the Two Fat Expats Facebook Group, it’s the best expat party in town.

Are you a bad parent for making your child move countries?
Covid strikes in Adelaide (we recorded the day before lockdown hit) and Hamburg has had 3000 new cases in the last week but never fear we’re still here to talk all things expat.
Our Four Fat questions:
What gets you excited about a new move?
What’s your clean out strategy before a move?
Are you the mandarin or the garlic? It all makes sense when you listen, I promise! But basically it’s all about when you fit in but just don’t feel the same as everyone else.
Are you a bad mother for feeling like your children are holding you hostage? Why does this questions always cause such an adverse reaction. We discuss.
Our three favourite things:
The Crown Season Four (everyone’s talking about it aren’t they)
The final episode of The Circus (ep 21 season 5) – in particular Debbie Dingells chat about Joe Biden.
The Crown’s official podcast
Nick Bryant talking to Richard Fidler on Conversations
The absolutely scrummy delicious Americano’s from Chappel Hill
Nikki’s happy that all her American TV is back and running
The Undoing with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant (not Jackman)
Enjoy! And we’ll see you next week
