    Why Photography?

    Why Photography?

This episode discusses Vell's reason for picking up a camera and becoming a full-time creative.
The Good Read for this episode is The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin.
Many famed music producers are known for a particular sound that has its day. Rick Rubin is known for creating a space where artists of all different genres and traditions can hone in on who they really are and what they really offer. He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Over the years, as he has thought deeply about where creativity comes from and where it doesn’t, he has learned that being an artist isn’t about your specific output. It’s about your relationship with the world. Creativity has a place in everyone’s life, and everyone can make that place larger. There are a few more important responsibilities.
The Creative Act is a beautiful and generous course of study that illuminates the artist's path as a road we all can follow. It distills the wisdom gleaned from a lifetime’s work into a luminous reading experience that brings the power to create moments—and lifetimes—of exhilaration and transcendence closer to everyone.

    Dear Fathers

    Dear Fathers

This episode discusses Vell's respect for his Dad and Father.

The Good Read for this episode is Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance by Barack Obama.

In this lyrical, unsentimental, and compelling memoir, the son of a black African father and a white American mother searches for a workable meaning to his life as a black American. It begins in New York, where Barack Obama learns that his father—a figure he knows more as a myth than as a man—has been killed in a car accident. This sudden death inspires an emotional odyssey—first to a small town in Kansas, from which he retraces the migration of his mother’s family to Hawaii, and then to Kenya, where he meets the African side of his family, confronts the bitter truth of his father's life, and at last reconciles his divided inheritance.

What's Popping in Vell's World includes Drake vs Kendrick, Candice Parker Named President of Adidas Women’s Basketball, Kanye West Accused of Discriminating Against Black Employees, and more.

    Better Making of Men

    Better Making of Men

This episode discusses Vell's hopes of better making of men in American society.

The Good Read for this episode is JAY-Z: Made in America

by Michael Eric Dyson, (Contribution & Foreword by) Pharrell

This book wrestles with the biggest themes of JAY-Z's career, including hustling, and it recognizes the way that he’s always weaved politics into his music, making important statements about race, criminal justice, black wealth and social injustice. As he enters his fifties, and to mark his thirty years as a recording artist, this is the perfect time to take a look at JAY-Z’s career and his role in making this nation what it is today.

In many ways, this is JAY-Z’s America as much as it’s Pelosi’s America, or Trump’s America, or Martin Luther King’s America. JAY-Z has given this country a language to think with and words to live by.

What's Popping in Vell's World consists of Angel Reese's Declaration for the WNBA Draft, Young Thug’s YSL RICO Trial Could Continue Until 2027, Getting informed to vote, and more.

    Choices vs Decisions

    Choices vs Decisions

This episode discusses Vell's difference between choices and decisions.

The Good Read for this episode is The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom.

Eddie, an 83-year-old man killed trying to save a young girl, wakes up in the afterlife, where his life is retold by five people. As Eddie recounts his many ups and downs, he sees what his life meant, in turn reminding all of us that no matter how menial we feel, our life has meaning. This is a moving novel of immense emotional resonance.

Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has lived, in his mind, an uninspired life. His job is fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd birthday, a tragic accident kills him, as he tries to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination. It's a place where your life is explained to you by five people, some of whom you knew, others who may have been strangers. One by one, from childhood to soldier to old age, Eddie's five people revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his "meaningless" life, and revealing the haunting secret behind the eternal question: "Why was I here?"

What's Popping in Vell's World consists of the Kansa City Superbowl Shooting, Mark Zuckerberg reviewing Apple’s Vision Pro headset, Ye - Vultures getting taken down, and more.
