    Interview with Arjun Malhotra

    Arjun Malhotra served as Chairman of Headstrong's Board of Directors before its acquisition by Genpact in May 2011. Prior to Headstrong he was Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of TechSpan, which merged with Headstrong in October 2003.
    A pioneer of the Indian IT industry, Mr. Malhotra founded TechSpan in 1998 with funding from Goldman Sachs and Walden International. The merger of TechSpan with Headstrong had built an end-to-end services organization. Mr. Malhotra led the seamless integration across businesses and cultures, resulting in Headstrong's recognition as one of the fastest-growing IT-based Financial Services companies
    Mr. Malhotra has a long string of entrepreneurial successes. He co-founded the HCL group in 1975, taking it from a six-person "garage operation" to one of India's largest Information Technology corporations. The first leading Indian entrepreneur to relocate to USA, Mr. Malhotra took over HCL's US operation in 1989 and grew it to nearly $100 million annual revenues. In 1992 he ran the HCL-HP joint venture in India, and in 1996 he set up and ran the joint venture with Deluxe Corporation. He consolidated and grew HCL operations in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
    Mr. Malhotra studied at The Doon School, Dehradun, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He graduated from IIT with B.Tech. (Hons.) in Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering and received the Dr. B.C. Roy Gold Medal. In 1985, he attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
    Mr. Malhotra is a Member of the Board of Governors, IIT (Kharagpur) Foundation, Member of the Board of Governors of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, Member of the Board of Governors of Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management, Shillong and IIM Udaipur. He founded the Prof. G.S. Sanyal School of Telecommunications at IIT Kharagpur through a personal endowment. In "recognition of his outstanding contribution and services to the Institute", Mr. Malhotra was declared Life Fellow of IIT Kharagpur in February 2003 and has been awarded Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) in September 2012.
    Mr. Malhotra was awarded the Albert Einstein Technology Medal for 2001. The Award salutes the high tech industryís vanguard who "with their vision ... have revolutionized the perception of time and space, linking mankind with ever growing speed and ingenuity. Their cutting-edge breakthroughs have empowered countless others." The Institution of Engineers (India) has named Mr. Malhotra an Eminent Engineering Personality.
    Mr. Malhotra is a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers, India (FIETE), and a Member of the Institute of Engineers, India (MIE). He is a Member of Indian Public Schools Society and is on the Board of Governors of The Doon School. He is a past Co-Chair of the Global Pan-IIT Alumni Association and has served on the Board of Governors for the Delhi College of Arts & Commerce, University of Delhi, and as Vice President of The Doon School Old Boys Society.
    Mr. Malhotra is a Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), a non-profit network with over 10,000 members across 61 chapters in 13 countries. He has previously served as the Chairman of the TiE Global Board. TiE fosters global entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking and education.
    He is also one of the founding members of SPIC-MACAY, the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth and is presently on their Advisory Board. SPIC-MACAY is today Indiaís largest non-government, not for profit, social and cultural organization.

    Interview with Umang Gupta, CEO of Keynote Systems

    Umang Gupta has served since 1997 as chairman and chief executive officer of Keynote Systems (NASDAQ: KEYN), the global leader in test and measurement solutions that improve mobile communications and online business performance. A well-known technology visionary and Silicon Valley entrepreneur, Umang began his career in 1973 with IBM. Umang joined Oracle Corporation in 1981 where he wrote the first business plan for the company, and served as Vice President and General Manager of the Microcomputer Products Division through 1984. He left Oracle to become Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Gupta Corporation, which he took public in 1993 (NASDAQ: GPTA). Gupta Corporation was responsible for ushering in the era of enterprise client/server computing by introducing many seminal innovations, including the world’s first client/server relational database system for PC networks in 1988. Umang has also been an active investor and advisor to a number of Silicon Valley start-up companies including serving on the Board of Trustees of Mosaix, a publicly held call-center systems company from 1997 to 1999 until its sale to Lucent Technologies.
    Umang received his Bachelor of Technology degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Kanpur in 1971 and his M.B.A. from Kent State University in Ohio, USA in 1972. In 1996, Umang received the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur for his outstanding contributions to Information Technology and entrepreneurial achievements. In addition to his professional activities, Umang has previously served on the board of the Peninsula Community Foundation; a San Mateo based public charity that builds investment and involvement in community. He is also an avid history buff and served on the Board of the San Mateo Historical Association. He currently serves as the Board Chairman of PanIIT Global, an umbrella organization for over 200,000 IIT alumni across the world. In 2000, Umang was the honored recipient of the Asian Pacific Foundation Award for Civic Leadership and Philanthropy.

    Suresh V. Shenoy is Executive Vice President at Information Management Consultants, Inc., a Virginia based consulting and technology company.
    He currently serves as Chairman of the National Capital region of the American Red Cross and on the boards of Kevric Company, IMC Global Services, Fairfax County Information Technology Advisory Committee, Capital IIT Alumni Association and Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce. He was the Program Committee Chairman of the PanIIT Global Conference held in Washington D.C. which was attended by more than 2,300 people. Prior to joining IMC, Mr. Shenoy was a partner at Maridyne International, an international marketing company and joint venture with Marubeni Corporation of Japan. After selling Maridyne, Mr. Shenoy owned and operated Northeast Investment Castings which manufactured precision castings for defense and high-tech industries.
    He was an adjunct professor of Entrepreneurship, International Marketing and Business Administration at the Graduate School of Management of Clarke University. Currently, he is on the adjunct faculty of the School of Information Technology & Engineering at George Mason University. Mr. Shenoy has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a MBA from the University of Connecticut.
    Mr. Shenoy served as co-President of the PanIIT Alumni Association in North America from 2006-2008, which is the umbrella alumni organization for the highly selective seven Indian Institutes of Technology. He was a founding member of the Thomas Jefferson Partnership Fund and served on its board until 2002. He also served on the Board of the Fairfax County Library Foundation. He was chairman of the Emerging Technologies Advisory Group (EMTAG) at the Association of Information and Image Management (AIIM) from 1996-1997 and served on AIIM’s International Board of Directors. He served as chairman of the Washington D.C. Chapter of the International Society of Enterprise Engineers (ISEE) and as co-chair of the BPR-SIG for the Industry Advisory Council to U.S. Government CIOs.
    Mr. Shenoy’s articles have been published in various industry publications and he has spoken at numerous industry events including annual AIIM International shows, Imaging Expo in New York, COMDEX, Information Management Congress in Europe and CENADEM in Brazil. Mr. Shenoy was inducted as a Fellow of the Information Management Congress (Europe) and AIIM International (USA) in 2000. In 2009, Mr. Shenoy was the recipient of the annual award for philanthropy and community service from the Northern Virginia Community Foundation. In the same year, he was also recognized by IBM Corporation as “Information Champion” for his contributions to Enterprise Content Management (ECM) technologies and received the Distinguished Service Award from his alma mater, the Indian Institute of Technology.

    Witty Bindra is a global executive with extensive experience in implementation of infrastructure projects including offering technical / engineering guidance on projects. He is also currently the CEO of Goldshire Developers in Houston, TX.

    Witty has a hands-on leadership style while working directly with his clients. He is comfortable dealing with people from the construction sites to the board room. He is adept at people development, from recruiting to mentoring to appraising.

    Witty has spent over 20 years managing civil and infrastructure projects for State and Private companies in New Zealand, Fiji Islands, Samoa, Australia, India, UK and the US which includes advising clients on policies matters, strategy, planning, operations, organization and cultural transformation.

    He is from India and has dual nationality in the US and New Zealand. He was a Commissioned Officer with the Royal New Zealand Navy Voluntary Reserve.

    Witty received his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering and studied Geotechnical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He has an MBA from Massey University in New Zealand, specialization in Project Management and International Business.

    Partha Chaterjee is a principal at SunGard Global Services, acting as a solution architect and expert technology strategist in energy and finance, managing the energy and finance practice. His current focus is on helping customers meet the Dodd-Frank deadlines. He also provides leadership in information technology, energy (upstream to trading/marketing and utilities) and finance, advising business unit heads as well as chief information officers. His expertise encompasses energy and trading risk management (ETRM) systems, risk management and trading analytics, regulatory compliance, and governance. He compliments that with deep technical knowledge in enterprise architecture, web enablement, engineering applications and mathematical modeling.
    Mr. Chatterjee joined SunGard Global Services from Sapient, where he was a senior technology strategist and architect, responsible for expanding Sapient’s energy & utilities and trading & risk management practice in Western U.S. His accomplishments also included crafting the enterprise architecture of a top five global oil company. Prior to that, he was an application architect and manager at Dynergy/Accenture, where he was the principal architect of an integrated energy and commodities trading solution that covered trading, scheduling, accounting and invoicing for gas, power, coal and weather. As a principal at El Paso Energy (previously Tenneco Energy), he architected a fast and efficient nomination and scheduling system for one of the largest pipelines in the U.S. His experience also includes managing power, gas, coal, weather, crude, liquids, metals and agro products, as well as handling commodities, fixed income and equities for investment banks, energy companies and asset management companies.
    Mr. Chatterjee holds a Bachelor of Technology (Honors) with first class in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) (Kharagpur) in India, as well as a master’s degree in computer science from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from Texas A&M University, specializing in finance and MIS.
