#62 Three startups by age 21 with David W from Eden.

Welcome to The Fintech Founder Journey where we explore great FinTech products, businesses, and leaders.
I’m your host, Mike Scott, co-Founder and CEO of Nona Digital. Nona Digital is an expert firm that accelerates product development for FinTech & Blockchain scaleups.
In today's show, I’m joined by David Wolfenden. We’ll be talking about how, at 21 years old, he is already on his third startup as well as the gamification of money.
    __________________________________
David Wolfenden is a very impressive 21-year-old dude. He has already amassed some significant life and business experience that has led him to his current focus as the Founder and CEO of Eden.
Eden is a seed-stage Fintech startup based in the US whose mission is to leverage modern-day society's consumer mindset for its own financial good. They are working on building a visual savings account where one's balance is represented by a dynamic digital world rather than just numbers.
I really enjoyed my encounter with David and while he is at a much earlier stage than most of the guests that come on the show, I think that he is someone worth keeping an eye on…
Welcome David, thanks for making the time.

#61 Solving bad credit scores with Nirit Rubenstein from Dovly.

In today's show, I’m joined by Nirit Rubenstein from Dovly and we’ll be discussing her journey building a credit improvement platform.
    __________________________________

Nirit Rubenstein's  career has been diverse and vast but I'll highlight some things that stood out for me.
Way back in 1995 she was an Airforce Instructor in Israel. She spent 5 years with Salesforce across financial analyst and marketing strategy roles. As CEO of Credly between 2014 and 2018, she led the second-largest credit repair company in the US following its acquisition by Tregaron Capital.
Nirit serves on the advisory board of the Arizona Isreal Technology Alliance, she received a BA in business and economics and an MBA, graduating Cum Laude.
All of this led to her current focus which is as the CEO and co-founder of Dovly. Dovly is a fully automated credit improvement platform based on sophisticated algorithms that are proven to impact credit scores. They are around 20 people today and growing, they have raised just under $6m in seed funding to date.
Welcome Nirit, good to have you on the show.

#60 Fixing B2B payments using AI with Michael Young from Photon Commerce.

#60 Fixing B2B payments using AI with Michael Young from Photon Commerce.

Welcome to The Fintech Founder Journey where we explore FinTech products, businesses, and leaders.
I’m your host, Mike Scott, co-Founder and CEO of Nona Digital. Nona Digital is an expert firm that accelerates product development for FinTech & Blockchain scaleups.
In today's show, I’m joined by Michael Young from Photon Commerce and we will be talking about his journey building an AI-powered platform for Fintechs, invoices, and payments.
    __________________________________

Michael's early career was as an engineer at IBM after which he took a role as a researcher at Wharton where he worked on a bunch of things that I can barely even pronounce like being the co-inventor of the optical memristor.
After that, he took a role as VP of Strategy and Marketing for a tech and education company. At around the same time, he co-founded Innova Dynamics which was eventually acquired by TPK in 2015. As this was going, he co-founded another business, IonArmour where he led the product, tech, and business development.
In 2016 he co-founded an eye care company, Smart Focus which was a spin-out of Stanford and was featured in publications like the Economist and Wired.
Michael is an advisor to CareNX which is a life-saving technology that has been recognized by Queen Elizabeth II and the Indian Prime Minister.
In 2019 he was selected as one of the 100 entrepreneurs from around the world to join the prestigious One Deck program in San Francisco where he remains a Fellow today.
All of this led him to his current focus which is the sole founder and CEO of Photon Commerce. Photon is an AI platform for fintechs that reduces payment costs by up to 33% while accelerating customer acquisition.
It is used by over 120 fintechs and has processed over $11bn to date. Photon has an engineering heavy team of 25 and is growing fast. They have raised multiple rounds of undisclosed amounts and they already have significant recurring revenues.
Michael is razor-sharp, incredibly focused, and seems to know what it takes to build a successful business - I’m looking forward to this discussion.

    __________________________________

Today my guest is Duncan Currie who has been working in Financial service and Fintech for a very long time.
Duncan has had a very deep career in this space, working at senior levels for companies like Visa, ANZ Bank, the NAB, and Crypto.com to name a few.
A massive depth of knowledge in the card space has led Duncan to his current role as Country Manager of Marqeta for the AUS and NZ regions.
For those you listening that might not know Marqeta, they are a massively successful Fintech company that focuses on the modern card issuing platforms and infrastructure to help companies build and manage payment programs.
Duncan has also got some entrepreneurial DNA in him as he has founded and run a good few businesses too, some unrelated to Fintech.
Duncan is seriously experienced in financial services and Fintech and more importantly, a really nice guy.
