The idea of book bans in America is largely a misconception. While its true that some books have been challenged or removed from certain libraries or schools, this is not the same as a nationwide ban. A challenge is an attempt to remove or restrict materials based upon the objections of a person or group. A banning is the removal of those materials. Challenges do not simply involve a person expressing a point of view; rather, they are an attempt to remove material from the curriculum or library, thereby restricting the access of others. What some states and school districts are doing is restrict access of sexually explicit material to under aged children. Adults must protect children but it seems for some reason, some so called adults want to expose really small children to sexually explicit content.
