Punk Rock Meets Bagels - with Bagels by Jarrett

Punk Rock Meets Bagels - with Bagels by Jarrett

The bagel is a simple satisfaction. The effort it takes to deliver a good bagel is maddeningly hard work. How did a touring bassist and video producer/director turn a warm pretzel he made for his wife into a thriving bagel bakery?

In this episode, Jarrett channels his Jersey attitude, penchant for perfectionism, and approach to creating a touring band into an amazing bakery that opened - get this - 3 weeks before covid shut everything down.

    Also:
How do you slice your bagel to satisfy your teeth?
    How not to spell Jarrett.
    The Lawsuit.
    The f***ing phone.
    Jimmy eat world. Because, music.

It is a masterclass in how effort and simple experimentation can turn an idea into a livelihood.

Big thanks to Jarrett. We love the verbal seasoning you sprinkle in your dialogue. *explicit language warning here*

Everything is Nothing: The Dempster's Everything Bagel

Everything is Nothing: The Dempster's Everything Bagel

We review the Dempster's Everything Bagel, a generic "mass bagel brand's" generic version of the "everything" bagel.  Is it (what serious bagel heads may shun as) simply bread masquerading as a bagel? Or is it one of the greatest bang-for-buck ways to satisfy your hunger?

We also cover how annoying it is dealing with pre-sliced bagels, and the near samurai mastery of a bread knife needed to halve a bagel without losing a finger.

IF you love bagels but can't be trusted with a knife, try a bagel holder like this one at Stokes, or this one on Amazon

If you want to eat the same bagel we ate, try walmart ($3 for 6 bagels (that aren't bagels)!) with the same cream cheese (Philly herb and garlic, the one everyone eats, and one some connoisseurs love to hate).

We aren't foodies or food experts, but are looking for anyone willing to profess their love and/or knowledge for this food on our show.

Thank you to the two people who aren't us or our parents listening to this episode, this one's for you.

Trailer - a Podcast for grownups who eat bagels.

Trailer - a Podcast for grownups who eat bagels.

After searching the internet for  6 or 7 minutes, and accidentally sparking passionate dialogue with people who love bagels, we realized three things:

1 - there's podcasts with bagel in the title but none (that we found) dedicated to discussing bagels

2 - there are too many podcasts out there, with more added daily

3 - it makes sense to make a podcast no one will listen to, but gives bagel fans the space they need to speak their mind because, who knew there was so much to know about bagels?

Join us on our dive through the bagel hole investigating the humble, the satisfying, and the maddeningly controversial super carb.

First episode drops in time for that Covid-19 self-isolation moment when you realize you've listened to everything you like already, and it's try to try something pointless.
