Miller Cane is the story of a fraudulent historian who makes his living conning the victims of mass shootings. He returns home to save the young daughter of the woman he loves, taking her with him on his roadshow across the worn-out heart of America, staying one step ahead of what’s after them. The story is by turns hilarious, unsettling, bizarre, and fearless. Buckle up and come along for the ride!Beginning in September 2018, fiftly installments of the novel appeared each Thrusday in the Inlander, Spokane’s free alternative weekly newspaper, with support from Sprint. Audio segments broadcast the following Thursday on Northwest Arts Review. NOTE: Most Miller Cane podcasts have been removed for now. After finishing the serial, Sam took several months off, then started rewriting the novel, cutting in places, expanding in others, and working at a significantly slower pace.     On September 20th, the Inlander hosted a live reading of Miller Cane: A True & Exact History at the Washington Cracker Company building in Spokane. Author Sam Ligon read from the novel along with other local writers: Tony Flinn, Laura Read, Shawn Vestal, Leyna Krow, Chelsea Martin, and Kate Lebo.
