Reality Check of Farmer's Protest ft. Sudeep Krishna | Vartalaap with Ujjwal Sharma | Ep. 8

Reality Check of Farmer's Protest ft. Sudeep Krishna | Vartalaap with Ujjwal Sharma | Ep. 8

Recently the Indian Parliament enacted three laws related to the farming sector in India. The move was aimed at facilitating ease of trade between the farmers and the corporates so that farmers could get a better price for their produce. The acts were aimed at providing an additional option to the farming community over and above the existing system of APMC mandis. The reforms were in the pipeline for over a decade but couldn't make their way through due to numerous political factors. These reforms were advocated by different agriculturists, economists, farmer unions, and political parties over a course of time to strengthen the financial position of the annadaataa.    But as soon as the reforms were introduced by the Modi Govt, vehement opposition was made by the farmers union fearing that the reforms will destroy the mandis, will do away with the MSP, and will put the livelihood of the farmers at the hands of the corporates.   Opposition parties looking at the intensity of the protests soon took over the narrative and is trying to push over their own agenda under the veil of advocating for the farmers. The farmers have refused to negotiate with the government, and want nothing but total revocation of the acts.  The government on its side is trying to negotiate with the farm unions through different rounds of meeting and is ready to amend the laws for the betterment of the community. But the farmers are continuing with their protests and have jammed the borders of Delhi.  So to look into the constitutionality of the law, and whether it is in the interest of the farmers or not, today I am in conversation with Shri Sudeep Krishna, a student of BA LLB Hons at Jamia Millia Islamia. We have discussed at length the validity of the acts, the vested interest of different stakeholders, the responsibility of the government, and what we as youth are supposed to do.  Do listen to the complete podcast to get a sense of the new farm acts, and what to expect from them.

Not just an IITian ft. Vardhman Dwivedi | Vartalaap with Ujjwal Sharma | Ep. 7

Not just an IITian ft. Vardhman Dwivedi | Vartalaap with Ujjwal Sharma | Ep. 7

Hey folks!  It has been a long time since I posted any video. Was bit occupied with something, and many things aren't still at the place.   But.. but.. but.. for the time being, I'm back. This was one of the video/podcast which I wanted to publish since donkey's years. I shot this podcast earlier this year with my brother from another mother Vardhmaan Dwivedi, but things went a bit tipsy turvy.  Finally, it is here. In this podcast, I am in conversation with Vardhman who is currently a student at IIT Indore. He is pursuing his Masters in Physics from the same. He cracked IIT JAM in 2019 and since then has been an active student there. He was my junior at Doon University. A very cheerful and happy-go-lucky kinda person, Vardhman was always a focused, committed, and well-disciplined boy.  Music and fest were something which brought us on the same train.   Here we are discussing the challenges which a student has to face while preparing for IIT, or for that matter any other examination. He takes us through his entire journey from being a "mediocre" to an IITian, a tag which every India longs to behold. Things weren't smooth, there were ups and downs, but his commitment and passion towards the subject made him sail through the storm.  Listen to this amazing vartalaap and I'm sure you will take a lot of motivation, positivity, and inspiration back home.  So, keep supporting. ✌

Cheeni Kam: The Chinese Conundrum with Ashish Dangwal

Cheeni Kam: The Chinese Conundrum with Ashish Dangwal

It's not surprising to see India-China relationship going from "Hindi-Cheeni bhai bhai" to "are bhai bhai bhai". Panchsheel has become just another Chinese product- no guarantee, no warranty and a huge Indian market. China never saw India as equal partner (or brother for that matter), but only a competition which can become a hindrance for its ever expansionary policy. Ladakh faceoff has opened the Pandora's Box. So many things are going around India-China. But to give you a complete detail of this fragile relationship, in this podcast I am talking to my great friend, a talented theatre artist, a physics lover, a foreign policy enthusiast, a student of East-Asian studies at Delhi University- Ashish Dangwal. Ashish likes to write and discuss on global and foreign policy issues. Correction: The most recent world order is often depicted as a shift from westphalian to a post westphalian era and not the multi polar world order. Relation of Indo-Nepal with Tarun Nautiyal (UPSC Praxis Mentor)

Relation of Indo-Nepal with Tarun Nautiyal (UPSC Praxis Mentor)

Ever since Indian Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh Ji inaugurated Dharchula-Lipulekh Link Road for Mansarovar Yatra on 8th May, Nepali government started lodging protest against this road. Nepal alleged that India has built road in the area which historically belonged to Nepal and thus this unilateral act infringes Nepal's territorial integrity. Nepal issued various statements, press notes and reports to lay its claim. Nepali government said that as per the Suagauli Treaty of 1816, all the area to the east of Mahakali River belongs to Nepal and India should refrain from carrying out any activity on Nepalese Territory. India refuted this claim and pressed that India built the road well inside its territory. Nepal replied by publishing a new map laying its claim on Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura and amended the constitution via the Second Constitutional Amendment Act. This has brought about fresh contention. India dismissed Nepal's claim and hence enmity has risen. In this podcast, I am talking to Tarun Nautiyal (Mentor, UPSC Praxis) to get insight into the entire historical background and contemporary issues. This podcast will give you a clear glimpse of how India-Nepal relations work. Watch my complete analysis on this at https://youtu.be/QN_WjxSGbR8 .
