John gives us an elevated view of Christ. He came down to earth as the Son of God, to redeem humanity. The other three gospels give us a horizontal view of Jesus in the fulness of His humanity but John gives us a vertical view of Jesus in the fulness of His deity.

Each week this summer, we are going to teach through a book of the Bible. Our desire is to look for themes and lessons from these stories that can help us in our lives. In the Gospel of Luke, we see that Jesus came as the Son of God and the Son of Man. Jesus, completely sovereign and yet arrived in this world wrapped in flesh. We have a Savior who came to seek and safe the lost, to show us a better way.

Since sin entered our world in the garden, there has been a tension between men and women. Over the course of history, women have been on the receiving end of this brokenness. But we also see anywhere Jesus goes, anywhere He is preached, anywhere the real Jesus is experienced - there is an elevation of women. Pastor Jon and Stephanie take a expositional look at the encounter of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well.

Humanity is distinct, different from all other creation. We are made in the image of God, in His likeness. We were made on purpose and for a purpose. And because of that distinction, every human life has value. At Vima, we celebrate the beauty and diversity of humanity and recognize the dignity that each person was created with. Regardless of agreement or alignment, we value what God values. We are called to be known by our love!

Many of us love the idea of Jesus as Savior but struggle with Him as King. Is He kind? Yes. Is He gracious? Yes. Is He compassionate? Yes. But do not let His meekness appear to be weakness. Jesus is the Lion of Judah and He came to usher in His kingdom. Jesus is the King of Kings.
