Christian Bedtime Stories Maggie Kuo

Tonight’s story takes place in the middle of autumn among tall redwood trees, and falling leaves as Penelope goes on a train ride.

This story is a story of my childhood. And even now, there are moments where I’ve had to go through my own personal tunnels. And when I go through these tunnels, I have to remember that despite wanting to give up, to close my eyes, and make myself feel small and unimportant just to get by, that God is always supporting me and by my side, encouraging me to look at the beauty of life even when everything seems to be dark.  That I can depend on him to take me through and that he knows when the exit is coming and the beauty on the other side.

Amitz is a small lemming. An animal as small as a hamster must survive in the cold frosty climate of the tundra alone as Amitz was born with only three legs. However, his chances of survival were increased when Ipyu notices him and takes him under her care. Despite the being different animals and missing a leg, Ipyu loves him regardless. 



This reflects in the way that the Lord each and every one of us despite differences. Sometimes we find ourselves in life, unhappy and insecure. But remember, God makes no mistakes. How you are born is perfect and beautiful. I know that this can be hard to truly accept within yourself. But remember to always remind yourself that you are loved and perfect in every way. And He is prepared to take care of you in every way possible.

There is a hidden island near the Arctic called Hoplan where all the bunnies in the world come from.  Life on the island is very similar to human life and all the bunnies live happy long lives. This is all thanks to Tuki, the moon bunny from 100 years ago. 100 years ago, the bunnies didn't have short fluffy tails like today. Their tails grew very long as they got older and thus made it easy for the foxes on the island to hunt them down. But Tuki's tail never grew, and he helped make the other bunnies have tails that never grew as well. Without Tuki, the bunnies would not be able to live so happily and for so long today.



This story is a metaphor to how Jesus changed our lives forever. Before he came, we would have many many sins that would gather as we got older.  In order to clear out sins before He came, we had to sacrifice a lamb every time we sinned. This was a very difficult processes as animals were very valuable resources back then. However after Jesus came (or in our story, Tuki), He was able to take away our sins by first performing miracles and then dying for us in the hands of the enemies. In today's New Testament era, we are able to pray for our sins to be forgiven and also have a way to contact God.

Barry and Larry are two big brown bears that are best friends. They are very different bears though. Barry likes adventure while Larry likes to cozy up at home. So when Barry wants to go the moon with Larry, Barry doesn't force Larry to come with him. He knows that if he dragged Larry to come to the moon with him, Larry would not be happy. So Barry comes up with a plan to let Larry see for himself how fun the moon would be so they can enjoy the moon together. 



God loves you so much that He would never force you to do what He wants. That would defeat the purpose of loving you. Therefore, he has given all of us free will to choose what we want. His wish is that with that free will, you choose to choose Him. That you choose to love him every day and to ask Him if what you want to do is what He believes is best for you. That way, at the end of day, you are happy because you were not forced to love Him, and He is happy because you voluntarily Love Him back.
