CommunityDPod S2 EP5: "Making that Modern Mummy Moolah" - Life, Advice and Loves of Mumtrepreneurs
After a brief hiatus i'm back; refreshed, raring to go and ready to bring the D the way only CommunityD Podcast can! Kicking off the podcast's return is an episode I recorded back in June with two women who bring new meaning to the word Mumpreneur: Tobi, founder of My Bump Pay and Debs, founder of Colour Celebrations.
With a wealth of wisdom very apt in the month of celebrating black greatness, we discussed:
- The best qualities in a partner
- The balance of being a mother, wife, working woman and mumpreneur
- How they built their businesses
- Their advice to those wanting to start a business

CommunityDPod *SPECIAL EPISODE*: 5 Things We Can Commit To at Work, in Life & all the Inbetweens
"Refer to me as a goddess, I'm tired of being modest" #BlackLivesMatter
Quotable words for life-changing times. In this special episode I will be sharing 5 (I did say 4 but it's bonuses all round with me!) things we should all commit to in our workspace, life and all the inbetweens. My friend Jacqui (a real queen!) challenged me to use what I know to help our black community and so this is one of the many avenues I can be an agent for permanent change. Whilst this episode is primarily for the black community, there are learnings for everyone.
My 5 focus points are:
- Overcoming the fear of speaking out
- Unlearning Code-Switching in the workplace and beyond
- The different types of Unconscious Bias, its relation to white privilege & the part we play in combating it
- Being Confident & Calm
- Remembering Your Joy

#CommunityDilemma: "There's complexities in complexion" - The one about cancel culture
Loving season 2 so far? Well, let's switch it up #CommunityDilemma style! Taken on one of my own dilemmas on this episode I am joined by two familiar guests; Issac (SZN 1, Ep 4) and Femi (SZN 1, Ep 10) from the Only God Can Judge Podcast and seasoned pros at giving advice!
We discussed the cancel culture which has become more prominent in recent times, including:
- Should we cancel people for their past actions?
- Are there societal conditions which can lead to colourism?
- Are women more greatly impacted by the cancel narrative?
- What can be done to address colourism in 2020?

CommunityDPod S2 EP4: Healthy Expectations; life & love with an invisible illness
Episode 4, hope you're ready for more! I absolutely LOVED recording this episode, spending some time with two very wise women in the beautiful shapes of Jess and Lola from The Taboo Table Show. In this episode we talked about health; in particular navigating through life and love whilst dealing with an invisible illness.
With great thanks to both for shedding light on such an important topic, we discussed:
- The challenges and breakthroughs of speaking to others of their age about their experiences
- At what time do you speak to a potential partner about your health?
- What can we do you encourage conversations on health issues?
- The inspiration behind starting The Taboo Table show

CommunityDPod S2 EP3: "Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty!" - The Fine Lines in Modern Day Friendships
Episode 3, getting into the swing of things again! In this episode, we had a returning guest in the beautiful form of Cindy to discuss the state of affairs nowdays when we talk about friendships. From personal experience to public opinions with a dash of a world where Jason Derulo just may get picked over Barack Obama (listen to hear more!), you already know we kept it candid!
We discussed:
- How do we now define friendships and what’s changed over the years?
- How do we navigate the differences in what we see as support? Is there a difference between men and women?
- Is there ever a right time to say goodbye in a friendship and, if so, how?
- Being the best friend you can be to all your friends
