Poetic Release is an escape for words that don’t make sense in my head.

Yesterday a Reflection, Today a Reality!

Yesterday a Reflection, Today a Reality!

We have 2 days to life, Yesterday and Today!

    Yesterday a reflection,

    Today a reality…

Two days to life, how will I survive?

Life is born daily, on this blessing I’ll strive!

Shall I be wise in building my hope on tomorrow?

    Today will be yesterday,

What must I learn from my sorrow?

    Yesterday, yesterday on life’s wall,

    Today – shall I rise?

    Today – shall I fall?

Today I will choose my eternal destiny!

Today I will give life the very best of me!

Am I not Black? Am I not White?

Am I not Black? Am I not White?

During this time of racial turmoil and desire for equal justice, in this poem I reflect on my heritage coming from South Africa and experiencing apartheid. The Poem speaks of the ridiculous notion that we all differ and thus receive different treatment by society and even identify ourselves differently by default at times through what our parents taught us.
