    Taking it Back - Episode #18

    From the vault of the Taking the Lead Media Podcast. Original release date: 05/06/2011.  "May 06, 2011 - Episode 18 is streaming here. Download the episode here.      This episode has a fantastic line up on it. Opening the show is a band from Southern California called Blighted. Really great sounding band, they have an LP available here and also on bandcamp. They also have a show coming up on May 31 in Sanger, California. Check out their facebook or the Shows section for details. Also on the episode is Kill the Masses from Las Vegas, Nevada, who are now going by the name Aechoes. They too have a show coming up, on May 28. Check out the Shows section for more details. The band is currently working on new material. On a lot of the episodes, I tend to close with a clip from the song, Bones, by No History of Violence. This is a band that I used to play with in La Grande, Oregon. Some really great times with these guys. We played tons of shows in La Grande with some pretty cool bands, both local and out of town. Some of those bands include Sub*Vert, Sprockets, Sally Mae, Mike Got Spiked, Morello and The Sharktopus. I'm also very happy to be able to share a track from these guys, Vultures United. Really fantastic stuff, upbeat, and worth checking out. They come from Orange County, California. Hope to catch one of their shows sometime soon. And lastly, from Arizona, The Beautiful Ones.     Taking it Back - Episode #17

    From the Vault: Episode #17 of the Taking the Lead Media Podcast. Original release date: 04/21/2011.  "April 21, 2011 - Episode 17 is finally up for streaming here. The episode is also available for download here.       I wanted to play some music by a couple bands that were on previous episodes. On this episode is another track from Social Concern's album, Cut and Dry (2010). That album appeared on the Top 25 of 2010 list. It's a great album. Also on the episode is another track from Crookedhook, this time from their first full-length record, All We Got (2007). They have a bunch of shows in the works. Check out their website or the Shows section for more details. The other bands that appear on the episode are The Rusty Trombones, Still Alive and Broken Spokes. The Rusty Trombones come from Ontario, Canada and play some pretty tight punk and ska. Check out more of their music on myspace. Still Alive are from Chicago, IL and have a demo out for free download on their bandcamp. They're a bit more hardcore than the other bands on the episode, but mix some reggae riffs into their music pretty well. It can get interesting. Hopefully the band will release some new music later this year. And Broken Spokes, from San Antonio, TX, close the podcast. They recently changed their name to Break Away and more music can be heard on their reverbnation and myspace pages. Some pretty awesome tracks are on this episode, so I hope you enjoy listening to it. Thanks a lot."     Taking it Back - Episode #16

You can also download the episode here.       This episode is another ska themed show. Opening the podcast is a band from Vancouver, BC, called Rude City Riot. They're a six-piece that plays some sweet power-ska. A new album is currently set to be released soon. Here more of their tunes here. Another sweet track from Big D and the Kids Table from their album, How It Goes. They too have a new album coming out this year. Exit 24 was a ska band from the island of Oahu. I never got to see those guys play, but rocked their EP, Read...Break!, all throughout high school. I think some members went on to play in other local island ska bands. Stuck Lucky comes from Nashville, TN. Awesome stuff. They'll be playing Bloc Party in April as well as select dates on the Ska is Dead: Young Guns tour. Bloc Party looks awesome and wish I could make it. More info on that here.
