20 Top Tips for Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities
As per the Census 2011, In India, out of the 121 Cr population, 2.68 Cr persons are 'disabled,' which is 2.21% of the total population. Persons in rural areas and 0.81 Cr in urban areas). By 2021 we can roughly estimate these figures to be anywhere close to 4.00 Cr. persons. A majority of this population does not get access to education and various therapeutic services. Raising these children falls on parents, which can be very challenging, stressful, and overwhelming. I can say this with so much conviction as I am a parent of a young man experiencing developmental disabilities. Besides, I am also a Clinical Psychologist, and I work with children, young adults, and adults with disabilities.
This podcast is a 20 top tips to these parents to help them cope with the challenges and stressful times so that they can concentrate on the well-being of the family and self and take care of the child with disabilities.
