7 years left until Earth's carbon budget is depleted, based on our current emission rates. Grace, a 19-year-old environmental activist and student at Oregon State University is here to tell us how we can prevent the world from going into a state of pure turmoil, more than it already is. Grace is pursuing a degree in Environmental Public Policy with a minor in Social Justice. She has worked in environmental advocacy and policy since age 14 and has policy experience at a local, state, national and international level. You can also find Grace volunteering her time as a firefighter in her community. Grace discusses everything from her experience at COP25 in Madrid, Spain to her pet snake, Aphrodite.

Today we hear from guest Jax Richards, a child rights' activist, who started his own nonprofit organization called Safeguard Youth. Between juggling two majors, leading a TEDx Talk at his university, and his various philanthropic efforts, he leads Safeguard Youth. Safeguard Youth was created to help amplify the voices of foster youth and childhood abuse survivors, as well as connect survivors with one another throughout Oregon. Brian helped to rebuild South Texas homes after Hurricane Harvey and put together food boxes for a food pantry, while also working with Habitat for Humanity in Columbia, Missouri. Now, he is working as a contact tracer for COVID-19, as well as petitioning to make Portland Police badge numbers more visible. He is currently pursing a college degree in Global Studies and Global Health to one day work on malaria prevention.
