After interpreting Section 125 of CrPC, 1973 and Section 20(3) of the Hindu Adoptions & Maintenance Act, 1956, it is held by the Hon'ble Supreme Court that under Section 20(3) of the Hindu Adoptions & Maintenance Act, 1956 - an unmarried Hindu daughter can claim maintenance from her father, provided she pleads and proves that she is unable to maintain herself.
