Mike and Paul interview sports journalist; David A. F. Sweet about his new book: Three Seconds in Munich: The Controversial 1972 Olympic Basketball Final

David A. F. Sweet is a longtime media executive and author who has written for MSNBC.com, The Wall Street Journal and managed the Pioneer Press and The True Northshore Weekend. He also wrote Lamar Hunt: The Gentle Giant Who Revolutionized Professional Sports, released in 2010. The book about football giant and founder of the Kansas City Chiefs and the AFL. The book explains how football was only one of the many interests in Hunts life. He helped form Major League Soccer, the modern pro tennis tour and the Chicago Bulls.

On September 1, 2019 David released his latest book, Three Seconds in Munich: The Controversial 1972 Olympic Basketball Final, is riveting - and TRUE. It combines cold war tension, the 1972 Munich Olympics, raw human emotions and, of course, basketball. The book reveals a story that few of us know but is nothing less than remarkable and unbelievable at the same time.

David is both candid and articulate in the telling of this true story. His research and dedication to this book are abundantly obvious.

Listen in to find out what occurred, at the Munich Olympics, involving our basketball team, in 1972.

    It's well worth your listen.

After Sports Podcast - Season 1, Episode 2. Mike and Paul interview Adam Weber, star quarterback for University of Minnesota, who then moved on the NFL..

In this episode, we also interview an exp NFL player; Adam West, he was signed but the Denver Broncos, as an undrafted free agent (which isn't an easy thing to do). From there Adam played with Tampa Bay. After Tampa Bay he moved to Canada, playing for Saskatchewan Roughriders.

We were interested, however, in his endeavors after pro sports and how is fairing. Mike is a sports nut so he asks myriad questions about his career, from college through to Saskatchewan. Very interesting indeed. If you attended the University of Minnesota from 2007 through 2011, you know Adam and can't miss this podcast .

Much more to come this year @ After Sports Podcast. Be sure to subscribe and hit that bell for notice of future episodes.

Inaugural Episode - Mike and Paul Interview Thomas Smith, ex NFL player (Buffalo, Chicago & Indy) and a long term friend

Inaugural Episode - Mike and Paul Interview Thomas Smith, ex NFL player (Buffalo, Chicago & Indy) and a long term friend

The original Odd Couple of Sports Journalism and Podcasting, Paul knows nothing about sports and Mike is a proverbial walking encyclopedia on the topic. Yet, Paul wanted to be part of the podcast and thought he could ask some legitimate questions (not) - so he focuses on success, prior to, during and after the player has stopped playing.

Mike peppers them with great questions and it all culminates in Mike's "lightning" round. Which can't be missed.

If you like sports - this podcast, about retired professional sports athletes, is for you.

This week's guest is Thomas Smith , cornerback (defensive back) played with the Buffalo Bills, the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts .

Thomas had a great career as a defensive end with the Buffalo Bills from 1993 to 1999. Thomas also played in Super Bowl 28, which you might recall, Buffalo won. From there, Thomas moved on to Chicago and played for the Bears for a few years. That contract earned Thomas $22M dollars. This is when Paul met him, shortly after signing with the Bears, he moved onto the street. Paul lived too. A chance encounter bonded a relationship that has lasted since 1999.

Humble but also driven, Thomas is as much a success today as he was when playing ball. Tune in and find out why!
