My guest’s life has been spent in teaching, writing, and editing. She published seven books, including one on saving money while helping the environment, another on everyday activities to make our world kinder, one on helping people with disabilities cope with new parenthood, and a volume of poetry. My guest today retired just before the pandemic, after fifteen years as a high school science teacher. Before being a teacher, he served as a junior officer in the United States Coast Guard. Then, he decided to write his debut novel.

He calls it political horror because it is plausible although he hopes we will never lose our democracy. He lives in Rhode Island with Cathy, his wife of forty-two years, the most brilliant person he’s ever known. Welcome to Author Over 50, David Schoorens.

My guest today was the Historian for Levi Strauss & Co. in San Francisco for 25 years. Her biography of the company’s founder, Levi Strauss: The Man Who Gave Blue Jeans to the World, won the Foreword Reviews silver INDIE award in 2017.
Her latest work of nonfiction is "American Dude Ranch: A Touch of the Cowboy and the Thrill of the West," a cultural history of the dude ranch, America’s original vacation. It has been reviewed in The Wall Street Journal, True West, Cowgirl, and The Denver Post.

She is the past-president of Women Writing the West, a member of the Western Writers of America, and is on the board of the Frank Lloyd Wright Marin County Civic Center Conservancy in San Rafael, California. She lives in Sonoma County, California.

My guest today holds a B.A. in Writing and Literature from Vermont College. She has not only written five acclaimed historical novels, and a historical musical drama but a dessert and essay book, as well. The Irish Dresser Series, adapted from her novels, is currently being pitched to producers. She enjoys Irish set dancing, ballroom dancing, reading, painting, hiking, and kayaking. He is an Associate Member of The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association, a Member of The Author’s Guild, and the Atlanta Writers Club. His short stories and essays have appeared in Prime Number Magazine, The Good Men Project, The Signal Mountain Review, and Full Grown People.
