The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has three Community Engagement Deputies, one assigned to each of our Zone Substations. These deputies are liaisons to our community, offering crime prevention programs and services to aid citizens. They are ready to assist and serve our community leaders in each of the zones, working with school districts, community groups and the citizens we serve. "When I think what does it mean to me? I am black history, ya know on a personal level," said Dr. Torrance Jones, MCSO Community Affairs Director. "I remember, just my mother and father, they grew up in the South and they grew up actually in segregated schools. So they did not grow up in a system where schools are integrated when it comes to black and white." -
