Murder For No Reason: Gavin O'Connor

Murder For No Reason: Gavin O'Connor

On June 4th 2011, the Gardai responded to reports of a young man found seriously injured on the side of the road near Carrickmacross. 22 year old Gavin O'Connor was unrecognisable due to his injuries, but he was found by people who recognised his outfit from being out with him the night before. What was originally thought to be a hit and run, was soon discovered to be a cold and calculated murder, for no reason. We spoke with Gavin's parents Helena and Gerry about Gavin, their life since his death, and how they have been let down by the system that was built to keep us safe.

    Introducing: The Shattered Window

    Introducing: The Shattered Window

Over three decades ago, a 7-year-old girl vanished from her bedroom in the middle of the night while everybody else in the suburb slept soundly. It's frightening for a parent to think that someone could sneak into their child's bedroom completely undetected. It's terrifying for a parent to think that they could be suspected. This investigative true crime series dissects a case that has polarized and puzzled the minds of those who know it. Compiled using thousands of pages of files and trial transcripts as well as interviews with those involved and source audio, this is The Shattered Window. Available now wherever you listen to podcasts.

Broadway is a small village in County Wexford, located in the south east of Ireland. The hilltop area is just over 10 miles from Wexford Town. Located on the rural fringe of Lady’s Island Lake, the village contains just one primary school and a pub, Butlers.

Castles: The Murder of Diren Dede

Castles: The Murder of Diren Dede

On the night of April 26th 2014, Marcus Kaarma and his wife Janelle Pflager were watching a movie together at home. The couple had been under stress in recent weeks after a number of attempted break-ins. They had taken precautionary measures to try and stop the burglaries. While sitting together their phone lit up, the motion detectors in the front garden picked up someone on their property. They anxiously watched the monitor as the person walked into their open garage. Markus picked up his shot gun and headed out the front door while his wife said “Showtime”.

    Hinterkaifeck: Farmhouse Slaughter

    Hinterkaifeck: Farmhouse Slaughter

In April 1922, the bodies of the six inhabitants of the Hinterkaifeck farmstead were found brutally murdered. They had been dead for close to a week, but someone had been living in the house for days after the murders. Perhaps they had been living there before too.
