As the world starts to open back up, self care is more necessary than ever. And nobody is utilising that more than fast fashion brands... This episode we explore what self care as a concept really means and how we can differentiate healing practices that allows us to feel more grounded and the empty top tips that companies try and sell us! Kika talks about how cooking spaghetti has taught her more about her chakras than any awakening ever could, while Lucy takes on the big brands trying to weaponise our mental health to sell 'little black dresses.'

Investigating the Trial of Alex Salmond - Episode 40

Investigating the Trial of Alex Salmond - Episode 40

It's the first instalment of our new series where we investigate stories of people in the spotlight who have committed or allegedly committed crimes behind the curtain of fame/power. This episode we talk about the sexual misconduct trial of Alex Salmond, former first minister of Scotland and leader of the SNP. Although he was found not guilty, there is a lot to unpack within this story and how the trial unfolded. So many people have come out to corroborate the idea that Salmond has acted inappropriately with women throughout his career so is he completely innocent or did he just get away with it?

All allegations in this episode are of course alleged and we are fully aware Alex Salmond was found not guilty. We just wish to look into the trial and also discuss the wider concept of sexual misconduct trials and the judicial system.

Just kidding...

Social Media and Influencer Culture: Is it Toxic? - Episode 38

Social Media and Influencer Culture: Is it Toxic? - Episode 38

This episode we investigate the rise of social media and how it developed from the innocent platform of sharing pictures and content, to a tool of marketing and influence in society and culture. How much autonomy do we have over social media and its affect on us? I can put the phone down whenever I want, man... We dissect the culture that has been built around social media and whether we think it's more detrimental than it is beneficial. Can you build and tailor a feed that has a positive impact on your mental health or is it best to go cold turkey all together?

tw// this episode discusses themes surrounding sexual assault/violence against women

We are bringing you this extremely important episode in collaboration with @tomstotes to raise money for Women's Aid and continue the discourse around violence against women. We discuss the eruption of anger and conversation that has come out of the recent and tragic murder of Sarah Everard. We dissect society's perception of this gender issue and whether it's seen as one gender's burden to carry more than the others. Lucy shares her experience with sexual assault and how men's attitudes/language/behaviour not only have impact but are direct expressions of a wider disregard to women as a whole.

Meghan Markle: Institutional Racism and The Power of the Press - Episode 36

Meghan Markle: Institutional Racism and The Power of the Press - Episode 36

It's the highly anticipated Dead Talk vs The Monarchy rematch! Just kidding... (unless?) This episode we dissect the, now viral, interview with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Oprah surrounding their departure from the royal family and the racial discrimination Meghan received from both the institution and the British press. We discuss the way that racism is expressed in the British public and the methods it uses to disguise itself as 'part of the job.' What power does the British monarchy have left? And is there still a place for this archaic institution in modern Britian?
