Deciding on a home birth / not knowing the sex and not being in control

Home birth pending! We’re joined by my very dear friend Ruben, a fellow Aussie based in New York, he’s not quite yet a dad but in about a week or so he will be. He joins us to talk about the pregnancy, not knowing the sex, learning to be ok with the things that you can’t control and how he got comfortable with the idea of having a home birth.

Bed times, sleep schedules and middle of the night cuddles

Bed times, sleep schedules and middle of the night cuddles

This week, it’s part 2 of our conversation with Paul, an Aussie dad raising 3 kids in Denver Colorado.

This part of our chat is sleep-centric where we talk about bedtimes and sleep schedules plus also taking your kids out to dinner and having date night at home. Sleep plays such an outsized role in raising our kids, and for our own health as well, so there’s never really going to be just one or two main sleep episodes per se, it’s an evolving topic that can be handled and experienced in so many different ways with our kids so it’s why I’ll keep asking every parent about it.

As a side note I’ve found that it’s just too hard to keep all the information you’ve learned in your head at once so sometimes you just need to hear something again at the right time for it to help you, so enjoy.

Saying NO to your toddler or your 8 year old, assessing risk and why 3 might be the magical age

Saying NO to your toddler or your 8 year old, assessing risk and why 3 might be the magical age

It's the return of the Paul, an Aussie Dad raising three kids (aged 8, 7 and 3) in Denver Colorado. The last time he was on the show, Della was merely a few months old. A lot has changed since then. We talk about why he thinks age 3 might just be the magical age we have to make it to in the early years and talk about how to say No to young children which is what I’m learning about now with Della. Also, how to assess risk when it comes to your kids. Paul’s a really thoughtful guy with this parenting stuff which makes for good conversation so please enjoy.
I’ve broken our conversation into two parts, on the next one Paul and I talk about bedtimes, sleep schedules and taking your kids out to dinner. Sleep is such an important element in raising our kids I figured it deserved its own episode.

Thanks for listening and if you’re enjoying the show please rate and review or just share with someone who may be interested. Cheers!

Running multiple businesses while raising kids

Running multiple businesses while raising kids

Lewis, father of two and business owner, joins Della's Dad to talk about the dynamic of raising kids while running multiple businesses between him and his wife. We talk about how the business owning parents balance the demands of running businesses while also prioritizing their kids (hint, one approach is to open a kids playground called Space Club!) and staying sane in the process. A fun chat even if you simply work for the man like Della's Dad.
