Ultimately, placing this butch queen from the area as a focal point in Australia’s queer nightlife scene. We discuss his Middle Eastern roots and how Western Sydney has shaped him.

On the final episode of Season 2 Groupie Collective chat to Amorist, a Western-Sydney based artist that infuses modern pop sensibilities with an 80s neon glow. Independently releasing his debut album in February 2021, ‘LETYOUREYESSADJUSTTOTHEDARK’ is a succinct but layered album that touches on themes of love and heartbreak, soundtracked by autotune and lush melodies.

Amorist speaks to Groupie Collective about his wide-ranging influences from the harsh tones of Hyperpop to UK songstress Jessie to chart-topping pop stalwarts Dua Lipa and The Weeknd, the inspiration behind his album ‘LETYOUREYESADJUSTTOTHEDARK’ and some surprisingly new territory that he would like to cover in future projects.
