Kagro in the Morning - June 21, 2024

David Waldman reminds us that there are only 136 days of Donald Trump being a convicted felon before the election, and less than a week of Donald Trump being a convicted felon before the first debate, but less than a day of Donald Trump being a convicted felon before the weekend!
The first debate is the moment we’ve all been… dreading, to be honest. No one wants this, but everyone thinks that they need it. President Joe Biden’s executive actions on immigration removed half of Donald Trump’s yawping points, which might be why Trump is stealing Hillary Clinton’s green card ideas. Or he might be aiming to look like “the levelheaded moderate” to con underinformed undecideds for the minute or so that he needs to make a first and last impression.
Duping the rubes remains of course an important factor in Trump’s Vice Presidential picks. How many MAGA does Trump still need to sucker? Does he still need to pretend that he will ever obey the law again?
Louisiana now requires every public school classroom to carry that lucky rabbit’s foot of Protestantism, the Ten Commandments, which are important to own and display, but not to read or understand. Trump would only know the ones he’s been convicted on, anyhow.
Steven KG Bannon begs the Supreme Court to keep him out of jail, but it’s almost summer vacation time. Sam Alito already has gone fishin’. Missouri's attorney general will sue the state of New York for election interference, which clearly they have not done well enough.
Good morning, Rosalyn MacGregor!  Democrat Christian Kleinjans won a recall election in ultra-right Ottawa County. He lasted about two weeks before being pushed out of his job as a community nutrition instructor at MSU.

Kagro in the Morning - June 20, 2024

Happy Solstice! KITM is the source for a few minutes worth of hesitant Painthenge discussion!
We may already have said this yesterday, but this — about Juneteenth — bears repeating.
Greg Dworkin kickstarts a demographics and polling-oriented segment today with views from the other side, actually. But about growing Latino power at the polls, a strength not to be taken for granted. Still, there’s no denying things just don’t look like they can come together for Trump, and they probably know it. Maybe chaos just doesn’t sell beyond the crazy-ass base. So crazy is what you’re gonna get. Even the GOTV “plan” wants to be crazy.
And, sometimes Greg takes one for the team, and reads something dumb so you don’t have to.
The guy who looks to have ousted Bob Good, is bad.
Social media discourse around a discussion of "the legislature's role in finalizing election results" gives us a chance to get into some procedural weeds. How would you define a “role,” exactly?
Did your brain just explode? Wait! Come back! Steve Bannon’s going inside! And Peter Navarro’s already there! Plotting God-knows-what! Receiving visits from God-knows-who! And… hanging out with more worldly and experience fraudsters.
Lastly, a backgrounder on the increasingly cynical “weaponization of government” discourse.

Kagro in the Morning - June 19, 2024

It’s Wednesday and David Waldman invites us to the Donald Trump is a Convicted Felon Week Four Eve KITM Special.
Juneteenth seems to be one of those holidays to celebrate, while also appreciating the journey there.
The baseball world, including Greg Dworkin, reflect upon the influence that the 'Say Hey Kid', Willie Mays, had on their life growing up.
The FAA is investigating counterfeit, questionable, or problematic titanium discovered in Boeing and Airbus jets, nuances hopefully independent from how quickly one finds the landscape is approaching.
It’s a close primary in Virginia Congressional District 5, and Gop Bob Good gets it bad as TFFG tries to make him former as well.
The Republican political machine strips some gears in New Jersey.
Donald Trump will be dodging Ho Chi Minh Horrible Milwaukee during the RNC, preferring Wonderful Chicago, home of the Democratic National Convention.
Trump’s criminal past is finally catching up with him, at least in the polls.  Or it could be his vow to reinstate student debt, or triple the price of everything at Walmart, or schemes he’s cooking up with his Supreme Court, or the families of hundreds of thousands U.S. citizens containing undocumented spouses that he’s promising to break up, or our allies around the world begging us not to vote for him.
No wonder that Republicans are cropping videos of President Joe Biden into “cheap fakes” to make him look bad.
It might have been the blind horse. Otherwise, wat could be the reason Gop Mary A. Morrissey was pouring water into Dem Jim Carroll’s Statehouse bag?

Kagro in the Morning - June 18, 2024

It is Tuesday! Three in a row for convict Donald Trump, one of many for the inculpable David Waldman and Joan McCarter.
Donald Trump isn't messing around. If you aren’t with him, you're against him. Even if you are with him, if you weren’t with him, you’re against him. Because, Donald’s a lunatic megalomaniac, and those are just the rules. Republicans are just toys for Trump’s amusement, therefore Gops will eat their own if it keeps them safe from Trump another day... although there are a couple left who hope that God might still be more powerful. They’ll learn.
Mike Johnson has learned, and has placed Trump stooges Scott Perry and Ronny Jackson as moles onto the key Intelligence Committee. Florida Gop Anna Paulina Luna must have skimmed some old Daily Kos issues and discovered “inherent contempt”, which Democrats were afraid to try because it might work, and Republicans want to try because it probably won’t. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Warren leads the Democratic charge against the Republican extension of Trump tax cuts.
There’s brawling in the Supreme Court too. Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Amy Coney Barrett are getting sick of Clarence Thomas’ originalist textualist malarky… And, can you believe it? The gun lobby and manipulated data seem to figure into many 2nd Amendment decisions!

Kagro in the Morning - June 17, 2024

David Waldman and Greg Dworkin are here to make your Monday… less so.
20 days in and convicted felon Donald Trump is still on the run, from authorities, morality, reality, sanity… Other than for maybe the law, Donald has an insurmountable head start, aided by an equally addled and prevaricating lineup of hypocrites, traitors, and idiots. For example, “Blacks for Trump” —  8,000 jerks somehow packed into 300 morons. Ace KITM Correspondent Rosalyn MacGregor tells us that if people are indeed interested in six decades of advocacy and action committed to the Black community, they should look up Joe Biden.
MAGA isn’t interested in that, of course, and you can’t tell them anything. However, Joe’s going to try, with a $50 million blitz, advertising that Trump is “A convicted criminal who’s only out for himself”. Sure, you know that, but you keep saying that once everyone else knows that, Biden is certain to win, so that’s what he is trying.
Donald’s always been a mendacious a*****e, as biopic "The Apprentice" aptly and artfully reveals, but good luck seeing it with the leftist, woke media stranglehold in the US.
Meanwhile, Infowars is hard to kill.  Infowars gone might be nicer than money for Alex Jones’ victims.
One way or the other, the Anti-Abortion Movement is late in its term.
The titanium on Boeing and Airbus jets is beginning to rust, and people are beginning to suspect that it just might not be titanium.
Fake electors will get to actually nominate Donald Trump in Horrible Milwaukee. At least the Wisconsin Supreme Court suspended Jim Troupis.

Kagro in the Morning - June 14, 2024

On today’s KITM, David Waldman celebrates making it to the weekend on his last fraying vocal cord, while I celebrate publishing over 2,000 entries obviously not written by AI since 2015.
It’s unanimous. The Supreme Court ruled on FDA v. Alliance For Hippocratic Medicine. 9-0 because it lacked standing, 3-6 that the lawsuit was absurd, dangerous, and should not have made it to SCOTUS level, and 6-3 looking forward to passing it next year.
Oops! Clarence Thomas forgot to mention a few more private jet trips his old billionaire buddy Harlan Crow gave him. Don’t worry, Clarence will never reinburse, recuse, or regret anything.
The House Gop had its “Take Your Poopy Bawling Baby To Work Day” yesterday, which many in the media call the most pleasant day in DC since early 2021. Some people just hold their petulant ugly brats to a different standard, I guess. And yet, maybe not every Republican is proud of their little felon.
Felon Donald Trump shouldn't be allowed to hold a liquor license, but Donald explains that he only owns the various LLCs who own the company who owns the license… Donald Trump has now illegally owned a firearm for about a week longer than Hunter Biden did.
Ace KITM Correspondent Rosalyn MacGregor reports that eight congressional candidates were attempting to get on the Michigan primary ballot using fake signatures.
KITM Senior Sports Correspondent Darwin Darko reports that male sports analysts somehow know less about women’s sports than they know about men’s. Meanwhile, the MLB, sponsored by online sports betting at stadiums and all media, will suspend players for a 20 buck bet, but finds the need to supply bodyguards to protect players from irate gamblers.
