Incredible library of stories about how they got from A to B

I’ve been a listener since the first episode. Finally took the time to write a review because Kevin Pollak has built an incredible library of stories here.

The basic premise is simple: Kevin talks with an artist (mostly comedians, actors, professionals in the movie industry, the odd musician, etc) about how he/she got from A to B. There is no real format. There are some games like the Tweet 5, the Who Tweeted game and in most of the episodes the Larry King game.

He’s well prepared, funny, playful and actually listens. That’s also why some episodes are longer than others (I think the Eddie Izzard episode still holds the record of over 2.5 hours).

The conversations just flow wonderfully and are defined mostly by the openness/sense of humor/skills (storytelling, comedic or otherwise)/interests of the guest. Lots and lots of stories about their way of working, dealing with adversity, creative process, their experiences while working with other artists, etc.

I find myself listening to my favorite episodes (honestly there are dozens and dozens of people I’ve admired and loved listening to) all the time while I’m working out. I would be happy to pay for this.

So do yourself a favor and check out the list of guest. It’s highly unlikely you won’t find at least a couple of dozen of people you’re interested in. Select a couple of episodes and listen to them while you go to work, grocery shopping, do paperwork or any other thing you rather skip but needs to be done. you won’t be disappointed.
