BYU Basketball & Kevin Young's Strong Run Could See Them Become A True Destination

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young's Strong Run Could See Them Become A True Destination

The BYU Cougars have a verbal commitment from Real Madrid budding star Egor Demin and Jake Hatch began the show with his thoughts on what Demin means for the BYU basketball program as Kevin Young continues to build up his momentum on the recruiting trail and it feels like this could be the launching point for the BYU men's basketball program to go next level.

Jake then talked about KYU extending an offer to Utah Prep Academy star A.J. Dybantsa, who is projected to be the top overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, and why a commitment from Dybantsa would surpass everything Keving Young has done in his short tenure at Brigham Young University (BYU) and where it might lead for BYU in the Big 12 Conference.

Finally, the show wrapped up with some thoughts on Virginia two-sport preps star Micah Matthews, who is set to begin a two-day official visit and see what Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program could offer him as Sitake, Jay Hill, Aaron Roderick and the rest of the Cougars' football program look to garner some recruiting momentum of their own.

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Looking For Egor Demin To Elevate Their Big 12 Hopes

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Looking For Egor Demin To Elevate Their Big 12 Hopes

The BYU Cougars are reportedly in the mix to sign Real Madrid budding star Egor Demin and Jake Hatch says Demin, a projected top-ten NBA Draft pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, would be one of the best signings in BYU men's basketball history if Kevin Young can pull it off and bring the Euroleague sensation to Brigham Young University (BYU).

Jake then talked about Rutgers grad transfer Mawot Mag, who is reportedly deciding between BYU and the San Diego State Aztecs, as he explains that Mag is a different type of NCAA Transfer Portal target for the BYU basketball program as he would not be expected to carry the load offensively but would instead serve a bigger role defensively at the Marriott Center.

Finally, the show wrapped up with some thoughts on the reports that the Utah Utes are looking at a possible move to the ACC and Jake says go for it if they are that unhappy being in the Big 12 Conference because the ACC looks the part of a sinking ship and the Utes wouldn't be setting themselves up for much of a future if their gamble were to fail in that circumstance.

Give 'Em Hell, Brigham, Give 'Em Hell - Paying Homage To Vaughn Kimball

The BYU Cougars have a rich and storied legacy when it comes to BYU football and the armed forces of the United States of America and it doesn't get any better than the life and legacy of Vaughn Kimball.

Jake Hatch took some time to talk about Kimball's impact on Brigham Young University (BYU) which goes far beyond his famous telegram to inspire BYU to beat the Utah Utes for the first time in program history.

The BYU Cougars Have Opportunity To Be On Forefront Of New Big 12 & NCAA Era

The BYU Cougars Have Opportunity To Be On Forefront Of New Big 12 & NCAA Era

The BYU Cougars have an opportunity to strike while the iron is hot in the new era that is about to unfold with the NCAA settling an antitrust lawsuit that will see Brigham Young University (BYU) and other schools able to revenue share $20-22 million with their athletes and Jake Hatch advocates for them to be forward-thinking and make sure they are leading the charge.

Jake then talked about the commitment of Westlake High School (UT) prospect Sale Fano, who has all the tools to be a pass-rush specialist for the BYU football program and the frame to grow into an elite athlete in Jay Hill's defense and he fits the bill of what Hill, Kalani Sitake and the rest of the BYU coaching staff are looking for on the BYU recruiting trail.

Finally, the show wrapped up with some thoughts from Jake about Russian swingman Egor Demin, who reportedly has an offer from Kevin Young and the BYU Basketball program and shows why people are high on his chances of being a potential first-round NBA Draft pick in 2025 that the BYU basketball program would be lucky to have playing in the Marriott Center.

BYU Football Faces Pressure During 100th Season With Unrelenting Big 12 Slate

BYU Football Faces Pressure During 100th Season With Unrelenting Big 12 Slate

The BYU Cougars are set to celebrate their 100th season as a football program 100 days from now and Jake Hatch says the pressure is on Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program to show that their Big 12 debut a season ago was an outlier and not a recurring theme for Brigham Young University, which has enjoyed more than five decades of sustained success and winning.

Jake then answered listener questions from the Locked On Cougars Insiders group as he addressed what BYU basketball and Kevin Young are doing to fill out his coaching staff, what the best-case scenario for BYU football this fall would be and what the chances of Jaxson Robinson withdrawing his name from the NBA Draft and returning to BYU are, among other questions.

Finally, the show wrapped up with Jake taking to his soapbox ot warn that college athletics needs to steer clear of private equity firms who are circling like sharks with the NCAA on the verge of a landmark settlement that will see BYU Athletics and other schools be able to revenue share with their athletes to the tune of up to $20 million annually.

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Add To Their Haul With Elijah Crawford Signing

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Add To Their Haul With Elijah Crawford Signing

The BYU Cougars added another ESPN Top-100 recruit to the BYU men's basketball roster Tuesday with former Stanford Cardinal signee Elijah Crawford signing instead to play at Brigham Young University (BYU) and Jake Hatch says it adds another feather to the already blooming cap of Kevin Young as he goes about building a strong BYU basketball roster.

Jake then took some time to examine where things stand for BYU hoops roster-wise with nine players currently locked in and the potential to add as many as four more players as he dissects what KYU and company need to round out the roster and really become a force to compete in the upper echelons of the Big 12 Conference once again this fall.

Finally, the show wrapped up with news that the Big 12 became the first of 32 Division 1 Conferences to sign off on the NCAA's proposed settlement in the House vs NCAA case that will see millions of dollars in payouts withheld from BYU and other schools while also allocating up to $20 million in direct revenue sharing for BYU Athletics to disperse to their athletes.
