    In this episode, Jeff is joined by David Paulus and Joseph Zumerling, to talk shop and discuss their experiences in training and handling.  David and his Hovawart, K9 Gretel, have earned multiple GAK9 certifications in the field, suburban and urban environments. David has trained the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service K9 Unit, the Kent County, MI Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit, and multiple agencies in northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin.  Joe Zumerling is an active handler with the Orland Park police department and has partnered with David to improve trailing in the urban environment of the Milwaukee – Chicago corridor which has grown into a multi-agency training group.

    In his time as a sworn officer, he worked his way through a bit of everything, having worked patrol, to SWAT, to licensed Pilot, and Flight Officer.  Kevin has held almost every discipline, with a love for K9s and his experience in being a handler as one of his most significant interests.  

    Now retired, Kevin is establishing a premier K9 training venue in Idaho to service GAK9 clients from across the west coast and abroad.  In this episode, Jeff and Kevin dive into their shared love for bloodhounds, dispel myths, and retrace a track involving Kevin's hunt for a cop killer.
