The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius offer a remarkable series of spiritual reflections and exercises developed as the emperor struggled to understand himself and make sense of the universe. While the Meditations were composed to provide personal consolation and encouragement, Marcus Aurelius also created one of the greatest of all works of philosophy: a timeless collection that has been consulted and admired by statesmen, thinkers and readers throughout the centuries. Whilst many of his reflections and ways to live life were based on the teachings of earlier philosophers from the Socratics to the early Stoics, Marcus Aurelius strove to live his life by the principles of his philosophy and in his Meditations articulated those views in a way that remains one of the greatest books of wisdom to have graced the Earth. Klantrecensies
Fascinating!
Hello there!
I am a 21 year old acting student, and in my study we recently had a new field called: theaterHistory. I became fascinated by the Athens, greeks and short after: the romans. I was at first very interested in the the works of Aristotle (wich i still know very little about) When i suddenly came across Marcus Aurelius. Now this man is truly an inspiration in history and still to this day! I really enjoy your podcast and i am listening it over and over on my way to school, and back. I am trying to get a better understanding of the way of life Marcus was living and how he perceived things. I will also try too implement his teachings in to my modern life! Great work and keep it up!!! Its awsome :)
