Thomas Moore: Care of the Soul (part one)

Part one of my conversation with author Thomas Moore. Thomas Moore is the author of the number one New York Times bestseller Care of the Soul. He has written twenty-four other books about bringing soul to personal life and culture, deepening spirituality, humanizing medicine, finding meaningful work, imagining sexuality with soul and doing religion in a fresh way. In this episode we speak about his writing process and how he got interested in the subject of soul, how the years he spent living in a monastery influenced his life and work, the trouble with the gender binary in spirituality and psychology and the transgender nature of the soul, taking a soulful approach to yoga, and the role of the body in soul work. http://thomasmooresoul.com

Memories of TKV Desikachar: Larry Payne

Memories of TKV Desikachar: Larry Payne

This is the second in a series of short episodes that celebrate the beloved yoga teacher TKV Desikachar who died in 2016.

Desikachar was the son of legendary yoga master T Krishnamacharya and teacher to the philosopher J Krishnamurti. He was a pioneer in the field of yoga therapy and author of the influential book The Heart of Yoga, published in 1995.

This episode features highlights from an interview I recorded with Larry Payne, back in September 2018. In these excerpts Larry tells us of his first meeting with Desikachar and his father Krishnamacharya, and how his studies with Desikachar served as the foundation for his groundbreaking work in developing yoga therapy in the United States.

Larry is the author of many books on yoga including the bestselling Yoga for Dummies book. In 1989, along with Dr. Richard Miller who I featured on the last episode of the podcast, he founded the International Association for Yoga Therapy. Larry went on to create the popular Yoga Rx program at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where he continues to serve as coordinator and primary instructor.

Dekhati ,

Thank you !

Interesting and inspiring to listen to. With all different sorts of subjects and views within the field of being here. Also I experience it as very reconnective as the conversations relate to me in a way reminding me of the beauty of the path of existence.

Some Wonderful Interviews

I have listened to about five of these podcasts so far and have come across some wonderful interviews with a wide range of different people, that all have some kind of spiritual edge, whether it is music, art or yoga. Overall I am really enjoying and learning from it. Definitely one of my new favorite podcasts. Keep it up.
