EP 127: Interview with Pleasant Gehman Part II

Muses first interview waaaaay back in Episode 23 was with this incredible woman and when we recently went to LA we of course had to do round 2 with the Princess of Hollywood!

Pleasant Gehman does it all. She's a bellydancer known as Princess Farhana, tarot reader, writer, actress, musician and alternative healer. In episode 23 she shared some of her LA punk stories, hanging with The Germs, being kidnapped by Iggy Pop, and living at the LA punk house Disgraceland.

This time around Pleasant shares tales from her time in NYC with Lydia Lunch, what it was like to go on a date with The Cramps guitarist Bryan Gregory, and tales from her own wild days fronting not one, but 2 bands, The Screamin' Sirens and Honk if Your Horny!

For those in LA, make sure to check out Pleasant's art show, Paper, Scissors, Rock: Forty Years of Fanzines & Flyers. Opening April 3rd at the Burgundy Room through to April 16th!

EP 125: Interview with Ginger Gilmour

EP 125: Interview with Ginger Gilmour

Today, we bring you our conversation with Ginger Gilmour, a true artist and author of Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon. We read Ginger’s book and discussed it back in episode 56 and since then, we have been wanting to speak with her personally. Today is the day!
Ginger met David Gilmour of Pink Floyd in 1971. They were married from 1975 until 1990 and have four children together. But like all of the incredible women we speak with, Ginger is multifaceted. Not only is she an author, she is a sculptor, light worker, mentor and will be hosting Creativity Classes “where creativity touches the heart and nourishes the spirit”. If you’re one of the lucky few to take classes with Ginger, you may be painting or sculpting but you'll most certainly be in the presence of this really peaceful and spiritual being.
Ginger is a true storyteller and speaks about her experience on tour with Pink Floyd, her health journey, favourite places she has travelled and what it was like spending time with George and Olivia Harrison in their gardens at Friar Park.
Ginger welcomes anyone to reach out and ask her questions. One way of doing that is by sending her an email, enquiries@gingerart.net You can also leave her comments on her Facebook profile: https://www.facebook.com/gingergilmourbook/ or https://www.facebook.com/GingerGilmour.GingerArt/
In the meantime, you can find Ginger on her website www.gingerart.net and we highly recommend that you pick up a copy of her book Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon. You can sign up to be on the waitlist for one of her Creativity Courses by going to her website. Enjoy the show!

EP 124: Interview with DeeDee Keel

EP 124: Interview with DeeDee Keel

Today we chat with DeeDee Keel, a true rock and roll fan and proud Groupie. No wonder the rock and roll lifestyle chose DeeDee, growing up in Venice Beach, she had Jim Morrison as a neighbour! What did DeeDee's dad say to warn her about Jimmy? Did she listen?
DeeDee recalls many incredible stories growing up on the Sunset Strip as well as her experiences working at the Whisky A Go Go between the years of 1971 and 1983! How can you NOT collect wonderful memories working at this place at the height of rock excellence? She was a part of the Led Zeppelin crew, and had her own unique ways of "bagging the rock star".
DeeDee also has experience going on tour with her husband, Ron Keel and tells us: Is it really all it's cracked up to be? What did she like about the touring life and what is she happy to have left behind? DeeDee is still rockin', you can hear her on her monthly radio show as the Rock Zone Reporter for WDLJ- KM Radio 97.5FM The Rock!
When we first read DeeDee's story in Pamela Des Barres' book "Let's Spend the Night Together", we hoped some day we would get the chance to speak with her. What amazing piece of advice does DeeDee end the show with? You'll have to listen to find out!
You can find DeeDee on Twitter @DeeDeeKell

Ep 123: Rita and Bob Marley

Ep 123: Rita and Bob Marley

This week we take you to Kingston, Jamaica where Bob and Rita met and fell in love.
Rita was still just a teen when she met The Wailing Wailers and began doing backing vocals for them. At the studio she began to get close to one member in particular, Robert, better known as Bob Marley. Their affection for each other grew fast and strong and before long the young couple were married.
From the get go Rita looked at her marriage as a partnership. Rita was there with Bob through years of struggle, yet their love for one another and their dreams of making it big never faltered. When Bob did finally reach success Rita was alongside with him, touring for 7 years with her backing band, the I-Three.
While over the years their relationship would shift from that of lovers to great friends, Rita would be there for Bob until the very end and continues to maintain his legacy.
Make sure to check out Rita's autobiography No Woman, No Cry: My Life with Bob Marley.
