    This episode is a recording of OGIPs Research Event  ‘Whose Voice Counts? Young people in peace and security research.’ In the event OGIP Research contributors and our partners discuss the role of young people in peace and security research, and the systems and structures that need to change to enable more young people to shape the practices that impact them.

    Katrina Leclerc, Program Director at the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP), where she oversees the organization’s gender- and age-sensitive peacebuilding programs and leads GNWP’s policy advocacy on the synergies between WPS and YPS. (@leclerc_katrina)



    Kenji Maghoma, a producer, DJ, creative researcher, poet and MC, with over 6 years of experience working in thought leadership, innovation, policy and media and entertainment. In her current role at Project Everyone, she works to shine a light on the UN’s 17 Global Goals, using art and culture to shape policy. 



    Nikita Yasmin Shah, founder of Hyphen Poetry which focuses on creative facilitation, research, evaluation and somatic healing. She is also a poet and dancer and has bridged her practice of art and professional work to develop a creative decolonial lens. (@ShahDot)



    Dr. Amjad Saleem, manager of the Volunteer, Youth and Education Development Unit at the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies based in Geneva, a global team focused on volunteering management, youth innovation and engagement, and education programming.  (@amjadmsaleem)



    Briana Mawby, Program Officer for Women, Peace and Security at the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego. She leads the Kroc IPJ's WPS portfolio, including the Women PeaceMakers program and the Women Waging Peace network. (@bjmawby).



    Dr. Manal Benani, senior youth specialist and cofounder of sustainable cooperation for youth peace and security. Has been in the youth empowerment sector since 2013 as a trainer of debate, advocacy and storytelling and spokesperson for youth at several high-level events such as UNGA and 5+5 ministerial meetings.

    Welcome to Our Generation for Inclusive Peace (OGIP), a youth-led research and advocacy initiative grounded in feminist approaches that aims to diversify the voices shaping Peace and Security policy and practice. This episode is a live recording of the OGIP Launch event held at the LSE on the 12th of February 2020.

    The event brought together practitioners, youth advocates and OGIP contributors to discuss emerging issues in Peace and Security Policy and Practice. Katrina from the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders and Alia an Egyptian Women Rights & Gender Advocate shared their practical experiences and insights on topics related to Peace and Security and the implementation of policy in practice. Some of the issues covered include, how to create a truly feminist organisations, the intersection between Youth, Peace and Security and the Women, Peace and Security agenda, and what diverse engagement looks like in peace and security.
