Vision 2030 - Regenerative Organic Viticulture

Vision 2030 - Regenerative Organic Viticulture

Paradise Rescued Founder Director David Stannard discusses the development of the Paradise Rescued Vision 2030 and the inclusion of Regenerative Organic Viticulture as part of the plan for this sustainable niche Bordeaux wine producer.

Since its foundation in 2010, Paradise Rescued has articulated a clear vision of its future - a (picture)Vision plan of where it sees that future. Organic viticulture and wine production has been a key strategy since 2010 and a significantly important decision in creating its high quality vineyard and wines today. Paradise Rescued was certified Organic in 2016.

Paradise Rescued reviewed its Vision during 2021/22 with a critical view as to how to strengthen the sustainability of its business, how to further improve the quality of its vineyard, winery and wines as well as its market place. These have all been consolidated into the new Vision 2030.

One clear change-up from the previous Vision is the adoption of Regenerative Organic Viticulture with its focus on (further) improvement of the vineyard soils. Paradise Rescued is a passionate believer that great wines are first created in the vineyard - and that comes from having the best soil possible.

David explains six principles of Regenerative Organic Viticulture, the focus on soil health and then discusses the application in greater detail to his Paradise Rescued Bordeaux vineyards.

2021 - The Bordeaux Vineyard Season from Hell

2021 - The Bordeaux Vineyard Season from Hell

Paradise Rescued Founder Director David Stannard reviews the 2021 vineyard season in Bordeaux. With the big frost, big wet and big plague, David describes 2021 as the "Season from Hell".

Despite everything, the advantage once again was with the artisan organic producers in Bordeaux who were able to combat the extreme conditions with daily vineyard 'hand to hand' combat' to minimise the spread of fungal disease and select the best fruit for the vintage harvest.

Although much of the 2021 vintage was significantly impacted by the climate conditions, David concludes with a positive summary and prediction for the 2021 Paradise Rescued Cabernet Franc and Merlot wines. As the quality of the vineyards continues to improve,  he makes an interesting correlation and observation about the steady progression of the wines.

Terroir - It's Not About the Dirt

Terroir - It's Not About the Dirt

David Stannard introduces the French concept of "Terroir" and explains why it is more than  geology, geography and climate. And how it is possible to create a great vineyard, healthy vines and produce excellent wine in a location outside of the classical recognised Bordeaux "appellations". He explains the impact of the human dimension in creating healthy soil and great terroir. It's Not (just) About the Dirt.
