    22. Parenting through the Pandemic and Now What? - with Cara Tyrrell

    22. Parenting through the Pandemic and Now What? - with Cara Tyrrell

In today's episode, I talk with Cara Tyrrell, M.Ed, a Vermont based Early Childhood Educator, Collaborative Parenting Coach, and the founder of Core4Parenting™. We talk about what parenting through the pandemic was like for kids and parents and how the methodology that she's so passionate about can help parents navigate what they may have missed our during this period. She talks about the five core executive functioning skills that she believes are key for children to learn, how to handle meltdowns, and how parents dealt with the 'survival period' of the pandemic. Listen in on this great discussion!

    About the Guest

Cara is a the passionate mastermind behind the Collaborative Parenting Methodology™, a birth-to-five, soul and science based framework that empowers parents and teachers to maximize children's early learning while raising fantastic human beings who succeed in school and life.

While teaching preschool and Kindergarten, she noticed her students knew their ABC’s and 123’s, but struggled with their social, emotional, and interpersonal skills. At drop off, parents would say, “We’re so glad that you are their first teacher”, but she knew she wasn’t -- their parents were! This realization led to her professional pivot as an Early Childhood Trainer, Parent Educator and Coach.

Cara has embraced her role as thought leader and fierce advocate for Pandemic parents raising the COVID Generation (GEN-C).

Through keynotes, teacher training, and her podcast, Transforming the Toddler Years, she’s teaching the 5 Executive Functioning Skills kids need to recover lost milestones and navigate our ever-changing world.

Cara has Bachelor degrees in American Sign Language (ASL) and Linguistics and a Master’s degree in Education. She lives in southern Vermont with her two nearly grown-and-flown daughters and a husband who is her biggest cheerleader. Ready to raise world ready kids who change the world?

    21. How a Rare Genetic Syndrome Diagnosis Fueled Inspiration - with Becky Tilley

    21. How a Rare Genetic Syndrome Diagnosis Fueled Inspiration - with Becky Tilley

In this episode we talk with Becky Tilley, a UK-based mom who is spreading the words of kindness and inspiration after being diagnosed with a rare genetic syndrome called Koolen-de Vries.

Becky grew up feeling different, but had no idea until after the birth of her second child that she was not only a carrier of this syndrome but that two of her kids would go on to also be diagnosed. Getting the diagnosis when she was an adult gave her a unique perspective as she wasn't defined by this condition growing up. Instead of letting parent guilt and the negative spiral get in the way - she harnessed positivity and ended up writing and publishing a book called Thrive Rare: Embracing the Uniqueness Within.

Listen in as Becky opens up and shares her story of her childhood that included being bullied and having difficulties with academics and work life to where she is today having authored a book and continuing to be an inspiration to others that have been diagnosed with rare genetic syndromes.

    About the Guest

Becky Tilley is a passionate advocate for embracing uniqueness and finding strength in adversity. Her personal journey with rare diagnoses, as well as her experiences as a parent, inspired her to share her story with others. Through her writing, she hopes to inspire individuals to embrace their own journeys and celebrate their unique paths.
