We’ve come a long way 

This video marks the start of another chapter on a continued journey. The essence of Rap Philosophy is to intertwine the love of music across genres such as Hip Hop, Rap, and Soul with uplifting, motivational philosophies. This latest season is centered around this word, “believe”. More descriptive, self belief is a concept I want to focus on, as anyone should if they are hoping to realize any worthy pursuit. My aim is to turn this little space in the description into an area of reflection, and this tool as a means of accountability as I am to push my limits and grow towards the best version of myself. In the process, I hope to find great music and share it with others in an attempt to bring together a community. 

At last, the closing days of winter are here, and in the season 5 finale we get a taste of some R&B and Soul in a preview of what's to come. The past few months have been a journey from establishing new goals and a desire to change, identifying flaws and replacing old habits, and building a foundation strong enough to fly from. As we close out this season with Leon Bridges amongst others, Spring awaits, and the only thing left now is to take the leap.

At some point, we all have to decide whether we will commit to the change we say we want. Well, it’s finally that time. This week's episode is the “turning point”, as we dive into the North Carolina’s J. Cole. One of the most influential and acclaimed rappers of his generation, we look at the moment that his dreams and desires turned to reality, in his mixtape Friday Night Lights. Game time.

This weeks episode dives into the rising star that is Redveil, a 19-year-old Maryland artist. His latest album, Learn2Swim reflects on a journey from pain to fame as we dive deeper in to his story. I look at several songs from the album, and discuss how we can build a better tomorrow through ideas such as patience, community, and self-discipline.

A promising artist apart of the Dreamville record label, JID is the focus this week, as we look at his latest album, the Forever Story. This episode takes a glimpse at some deep songs from the album, and reinforces the idea of change, and why everyone is due at some point or another.
