Rejection: why it hurts and how to deal with it

Rejection is extremely common - and the feelings we get surrounding it make total sense. Scientists and psychologists have been studying why it physically hurts, why we have such extreme reactions to rejection and what are some tips and tricks to cope. Mitch was recently rejected - so today's episode is for him and anyone who is dealing with or may in the future deal with being rejected.

Cults vs. Communes: is it time to join one?

Cults are fascinating but dangerous, so is it time to join a commune? Today we talk about the psychology of cults, and why communes may be a separate helpful way to live together and be better for the environment. The psychology of living lifestyles differently than the nuclear family creates a lot of tension, and the reasons are surprising. Today we break down the psychology, science and history of cults and communes to help you figure out if it is time to join one.

Saunas: is sweating really that good for you?

Saunas or thermotherapy, is a way of making your body SUPER hot in order to feel better and hopefully have a positive physiological response. The popularity of sauna bathing has increased in recent years, but is there a good reason for it? It may feel good, but the science of saunas may say something else about how they affect your body.

Amazing educational combination of lighthearted humour and serious topics

I hope you guys see this 😁 I just listened to your new episode about protests, and I enjoyed it a lot while working my job! There was just a lil’ something I, as an earth sciences / geology student, got a little triggered by 😂 When Mitch was talking about the discovery of a new structure near Earth’s core, he said something about the mantle and calling it ‘molten rock’. This is actually something a lot of people say, but it’s a little bit incorrect 😅 The mantle mostly consists of very much solid rock that moves very slowly like an extremely viscous liquid, while still being solid. Only at some places the rock is partially molten, for example where two plates move away from eachother and oceanic crust is formed, or at a hotspot, like the one under Hawaii. If you read this, I think it would be good to mention this in a comment corner in a next episode, to avoid misinformation. Thanks anyways for making the podcast very entertaining ánd educational! 😊
