Talking New Normal| Ft. Monisha Menon, writer-director‪.‬ Scicle

Remember Nimmi and Sally? The year was 1986 when the quintessential storyteller, P Padmarajan brought Nimmi, Sally and some other people to cinemas. A  movie which did receive appreciation. And, of late, this movie receives much more interpretation on top of the favourite reviews by Papettan fans. It is almost evident, as said by the crew, that "Deshadana Kili Karayarilla", is a movie which portrayed lesbianism in a diluted way. What made Padmarajan portray those two girls behind friendship, at least what made him dilute the emotions? The answer is short: SOCIETY. 



Cut to 2022, most probably your youtube recommendations would have shown you a one million hit thumbnail. Yes, a short film is in the news now, New Normal. This Malayalam movie is gaining traction elsewhere on social media. The movie is applauded for portraying a lesbian relationship in such a beautiful way. Embellished with rich visuals, New Normal, is receiving a warm reception. Part of the reason for this is because we’ve changed.
