Music is finite, opinions are endless. On The Album Years podcast, long term friends, collaborators and music nerds Steven Wilson and Tim Bowness discuss and bicker about their favourite music released during the golden album years, which they reckon to be from around 1965 to the end of the millennium. Each episode focuses on a single year picked at random. At the end of each episode they pick their personal favourites and the album they think had the most long-term impact on music. Can you guess which albums they will pick?

Interesting and funny!
This podcast is right up my alley. Finally two blokes who have a taste as eclectic (or even more so) than my own. If you can talk about Michael Jackson, Frank Zappa, Peter Hammill, Kevin Coyne, Prince and Steve Reich in just one episode, you have my undivided attention. And Steve and Tim, thanks for pointing me towards a couple of hidden gems (at least for me) like John G. Perry’s Sunset Wading!
Pretty Genius (And nerdy!)
Only just come across this. Love it! There is the obvious element of nostalgia as I remember discussing several albums you mention with friends and in a similar vein. We were not "fans" we were "connoisseurs".
Also very nice is that I sometimes disagree ('my life in the bush of ghosts ' and OMD's jumpers).
As I've also become a middle aged white man I regret to mention that I've resisted the urge to order the lovely t-shirt.
Many many thanks for the excellent podcasts and the fantastic music you both are involved in creating.
Great alternative for Netflix’n away another evening!
So far I have listened up until episode 6, and enjoyed the conversations/discussions about albums known, and unknown to me.
I have so far not yet heard anything about styles like Rap/Hip Hop or even Italo-Disco. With respect to instruments (even records for scratching), and styles these might be worth discovering/touching in the shows… I guess these styles are not close to the heart of Steven and Timothy, but nevertheless great influences have been coming from that.
Looking forward to some more episodes to come!
