Episode 177: Germfree Innovations: Sanitization Meets Innovation: How to Keep Your Office Clean Longer
Jay Baum is the President of GermFree innovations, a company devoted to sanitation and cleanliness. He has been working with and associated with the dentistry world since 1994.
Their technology uses a mechanical rather than a chemical bond, which will lower the dangerous levels of exposure to your staff and patients. It is a water-based product that is very safe for humans. The technology has been there, but R&D money was not being channeled to them until the increasing dangers of superbugs.
GermFree produces two products, MyShield and Germfree24. Its most notable items are hand sanitizer, soap, and surface cleaners. The items are different from standard cleaners because they are largely composed of Zetrisil. Zetrisil kills 99.9999% of germs on contact, and lasts for up to 28 days, providing long-term protection against fungi, bacteria, and viruses. There have been several studies on GermFree’s products, which have been shown to work against the COVID-19 virus.
The cleaners are all-surface for optimum hygiene. They are not for use on skin but are not harmful in the event of accidental skin contact. The surface cleaners are odorless and safe if accidentally inhaled.
GermFree also has several MyShield hand sanitizer options. They have both a foaming and gel version, both using Zetrisil. They come in a range of travel sizes to gallon jugs. Do the hand sanitizers leave a residue on the hands? Yes, it dries faster than typical alcohol-based sanitizers and keeps killing germs for 4-6 hours after application. Adam Zilko is the CEO of Firegang Dental Marketing. After what seemed to become a controversial post, we wanted to take a moment to break down the case study he mentioned to show just how well the implant funnel can actually work for you. Episode 174: Making the Most of Your Millennial Team Members- Chris Tuff
Chris Tuff is an entrepreneur and writer of The Millennial Whisperer. He struggled to find a job after 65 interviews after college. It was a small company that began to grow where he moved throughout the company. He created a viral video of his engagement for his company and learned quickly about social media. When he no longer knew what his job really entailed, he jokingly called himself “The Millennial Whisperer” and wrote a book about how to improve communication.
One of the things Millennials want is a mentor and coach. They have parents that had more of a friendship relationship than an authoritarian type other generations grew up experiencing. For them, the connection can sometimes be more important than pay. Benefits and positive work culture are something that they value. They want autonomy to create subcultures as well. The environment needs to be a culture of constant learning. They need to have opportunities for growth.
The 70/30 rule is that 70% of your job will inspire you, but 30% of it may suck. Because of the images of perfection on social media, people have an unrealistic expectation that things will always be great.
Do a “fly-by” every Monday morning. Check-in with people to see how they are doing. People want feedback grounded in data and almost immediately. Typically you have a 3-hour window to do this. Millennials do tend to be a bit more sensitive, so using the sandwich method is important. Using the word “and” instead of “but” engages the person more positively.
Remind your team that you are all heroes with a purpose by bettering the health of your patients. You’ll need to make connections with both your team and your patients. Your team needs context for your decisions so they understand, so you need transparency.
Millennials also want autonomy. Think of the Under Armor campaign of “Protect this house”. You need to build a culture that protects each other and solves the problems for you.
