The Pan-African Experience is a podcast that aims to re-ignite discussions about Pan-Africanism. And the purpose is the plant seeds of unity and inspiration among Africans, both at home and in the diaspora. Our discussions are based on extensive research. I speak to academics to expand on existing/new knowledge, and proffer solutions to internal and external issues faced by Africans/Black people.

Ep. 16 I Dr Maurice Amutabi I NGO Activities in Africa Undermines Development Efforts

As we switch to fortnightly publication, the serious but necessary conversation continues.

In today’s episode of The Pan-African Experience I spoke to Dr Maurice Amutabi about his book; The NGO Factor in Africa: The case of Arrested Development in Kenya. While acknowledging the positive roles of NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) in Africa, Dr Amutabi’s research found that NGOs’ activities also undermine development efforts.

Dr Amutabi is a professor of African History at the Technical University of Kenya. He holds a PhD in African History from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, and has written in several journals around the world.

I am grateful and honoured to have Dr Amutabi on the podcast.

Ep. 15 I Mr Leo .E. Tiah. I 5Th Annual Education and Youth leadership Conference - Liberia

One of the purposes of this podcast is to bridge the gap between Africa and the diaspora, with regards to exchange of ideas that are geared towards youth empowerment.

I am particularly interested in the education sector across Africa, and how we can centre the curriculum on Afrocentrism.

It gives me great hope to speak to young people across Africa, who are making positive impacts both on the grassroot and national level.

In today’s episode of The Pan-African Experience, I was joined by Mr Leo .E. Tiah to discuss the 5th Annual Education and Youth Leadership Conference in Liberia (AYEAL 2022).

Mr Tiah is a youth advocate and the Executive Director of Youth Network for Positive Change, a grassroot movement in Liberia and the organiser of the AYEAL 2022 Conference.

The conference is a platform that raises youth voices and promotes issues around peace building, gender equality, quality education, good health, good governance, and human rights.

I am grateful and honoured to have Dr Christian on the podcast.

Ep. 14 I Racial Discrimination Within Canadian Immigration System I Dr Gideon Christian

Our difficult, but necessary, conversation continues.

In today’s episode of The Pan-African Experience I spoke to Dr Gideon Christian about the recently exposed racial discrimination within IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).

These damning findings came from a 20-page report, compiled by the public opinion research company Pollara Strategic Insights, and presented to IRCC in June 2021.

Dr Gideon is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary, and one of the witnesses in Canadian House of Commons’ hearing on this report.

Before joining the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary, Dr Christian worked part-time as an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa. He also worked fulltime as a Legal Counsel with the National Litigation Sector at the federal Department of Justice where he conducted electronic discovery in high-profile litigation involving the Government of Canada.

His research activities centres on law and technology - specifically on electronic discovery, artificial intelligence and law, and environmental impacts of technology. Gideon’s research work has been published in Canadian Journal of Law and Technology, Utrecht Journal of International and European Law, African Journal of Library, Archives and Information Science, and Canadian Bar Review

I am grateful and honoured to have Dr Christian on the podcast.
