Since the American Revolutionary War (our first) until today, about 2.3 million Americans have fallen —half of them during three wars: the Civil War, WWI and WWII. We remember them all.

After learning he was going deaf in college, Matt decided to make a mental log of the songs that over the years connected him to the memories and moments that he most cherished. The start of his hearing loss happened in synchrony with him falling in love with his now wife – that combination resulted in him publishing “Soundtrack of Silence”, a vivid and moving memoir that documents the ups and downs, joys and hardships from his journey with the disruptive effects of NF-2.

In between immigrating from Ethiopia to America as a three-month old to running one of the largest healthcare systems in the country, a lot happens. In Dr. Wako’s case: she was a nurse who became a doctor who ended up being chief medical officer of a hospital campus, then running two as chief executive, and is now CEO & President of an entire system, Swedish Providence. If that is not enough, somehow while working full time as a doctor and hospital administrator and being a mom to four young children, she obtained an MBA. She is remarkably at the top of her game.
