এক শিল্পীর চোখ দিয়ে শিল্প আর শিল্পী দুটোকেই দেখা, এই নিয়েই আমাদের এবারের গল্প। ছোটবেলা থেকেই যে ঠাকুরের পুজো দেখে বড় হওয়া, তার মন্ত্র বার বার জপেও ঠিক সুবিধে করতে না পেরে যখন প্রায় হাল ছেড়ে দেওয়ার উপক্রম, এমন সময় দেখা মিলল একজনের। তার তাক লাগানো গানের জোরে সেই ঠাকুরের লেখা গান বোঝা আর ভালোবাসা, এই দুইয়েরই শুরু। শিল্পের চেয়ে শিল্পী বড় হলে যে কী বিড়ম্বনা আর তার সাথেও শিল্প নিয়ে সূচিবায়ুগ্রস্ততা কত দূর গেলে কী হতে পারে, সেটাও সেই একই মানুষের জীবনের ঘটনা থেকে জানতে পারা। সব শেষে এটা ভেবে হোঁচটও খাওয়া যে আগের মত আইনি বজ্র আঁটুনি না থাকলেও শিল্প নিয়ে মানসিকতা খুব একটা কিছু বদলায়নি। // 

In this episode, we talk about how the perspectives of an artist from half a century ago can still be fresh and relevant in this day and age of mobile covers. When the (over)exposure of songs by a widely idol-worshipped artist failed to have an effect on us, it was the interpretation of the same songs by the aforementioned artist which breathed new life into them. We learnt how the artist had to face the heat from fanatics due to the eternal conflict between the art and the artist. It finally struck that being free from copyrights does not ensure being free from conservatism in art.

এবারের গল্প শহরের দুজন ছেলের। তারা দিব্যি ভালোমন্দ খায় দায়, democracy-র নামে চোখ ওল্টায় আর ডোডো-পাখির সাথে বর্ণ-জাতি গুলিয়ে ফেলে ("ওসব আগে থাকলেও এখন total অবলুপ্ত")। কিন্তু হঠাৎ একদিন তাদের এহেন denial-এর রোদ ঝলমলে নীল আকাশে মেঘ করে আসে। হাজার মাইল দূরে এক ছাত্রর আর তারও তিন বছর পর এক ডাক্তারের একই কারণে চলে যাওয়ার পর, তাদের মনে হতে থাকে হয়তো এই শহুরে গণ-denial-এর বাইরে একটা বিরাট সত্যি আছে। সেই সূত্রেই তাদের নাগালে আসে একটা বই। সেটা পড়ার পর বোঝা যায়, সেই সত্যিটা কী ভাবে আজও স্কুলের সিলেবাস, গণমাধ্যমের ঔদাসীন্য আর ঘন ঘন "General হওয়ার অভিশাপ"-এর কাঁদুনিতে চাপা। // 

This episode is about the two city boys who celebrated when they wished, wore democracy on their sleeves and considered caste as nothing more than a relic. But one day, their walls of denial caved in. Thousand miles away, a student had died followed by a doctor, three years later. They started feeling that perhaps there was a truth lurking behind the city-bred mass apathy. Soon, they got hold of a book. It became clear how the truth was too dangerous for the school syllabi, too plain for the media and too inconvenient for the people whining about the "deprived General".

চারপাশের আলোচনাগুলোর ধরন-ধারণ আর না হওয়ারই বা কী কারণ, তাই নিয়েই এবারের গল্প করা। কথায় কথায় পৌঁছে যাওয়া সেই 'বুর্জোয়া' বনাম 'আঁতেল'-এর দ্বৈরথে- যেখানে দুই দলই নিজেদের কথাগুলোকেই বারে বারে জপে যাচ্ছি আর সেভাবেই দরকারি সমস্যাগুলো, প্রশ্নগুলো, দিব্যি চাপা পড়ে যাচ্ছে। এর পরে আমাদের গল্প চলে যায় social media-য় পাতা ফাঁদে যার 'অরাজনৈতিক' অলিতে গলিতে যুক্তি তো দূর, মানবিকতার শেষ রেশটুকুও তেমন আর নেই। // 

In this episode, we explore the nature of discourse in popular culture and the lack of it. We dive deep into how the divide between the 'elite' and the 'mediocre' is effectively pushing us into our echo chambers, away from issues that should concern us all. On further examination, we start coming to terms with how social media traps have been carefully laid out to distract the rational, encourage the 'apolitical' and put out the last remaining traces of empathy.

We discuss about one of our favorite Bengali bands in this episode. We talk about how the band has evolved and about their last album which (we feel) was an attempt to break free from the stereotypes and the expectations developed over the years. Soon enough, we move on to the state of Bengali independent music in India and how it is being received by the people around us. // 

এই episode-এর গল্প আমাদের খুব পছন্দের বাংলা band-কে নিয়ে। সময়ের সাথে সাথে তাদের গানের বদলে যাওয়া এবং বিশেষ করে শেষ album-এ এসে তাদের নিজেদের ভেঙে ফেলা, সেটা নিয়ে। তারপর গল্পের নিয়মেই আমরা পৌঁছে যাই এদেশের বাংলা independent music আর সেই সম্বন্ধে আমাদের চারপাশের আগ্রহে।
