Communicating through chaos with Zazi Henderson

Communicating through chaos with Zazi Henderson

In this episode of Untidy, Hannah and Matty talk to Zazi Henderson, Christchurch-based Speech and Language Therapist and Instagram guru known as @zaziplays. Passionate about supporting parents and their children’s development through play, Zazi discusses how to build healthy communication through the chaos of the early years.

The conversation covers red flags to look for indicating speech and language problems early on, feeling like you’re not good at play, mouth breathing, sign language, parental reluctance towards messy play (here’s looking at you, glitter), asserting boundaries through respectful parenting, and how she runs her business from home while parenting.

If you love grounded, honest, practical ideas, you’ll love this conversation. Check out https://www.zazi.co.nz/ and follow @zaziplays.

Grubby guests, petty revenge, and THAT dirty dentist

In this episode of Untidy, Hannah and Matty air their dirty laundry, and try to determine how grubby their houseguests are with the possible implications on bed sheet rotation. Listeners share their glorious petty revenge stories and inspire the girls with the wisdom of the ‘developing smell’ tactic.

They reminisce about the prank calls from landlines and ‘Mean Matty’ confesses remorseful acts from her misspent youth. Finally, Matty tells a story about THAT dirty dentist and the girls realise that they must investigate his whereabouts and commit a fresh revenge!

    Bush-bashing, shirt-cocking, and young Matty’s mind

    Bush-bashing, shirt-cocking, and young Matty’s mind

In this episode of Untidy, Hannah and Matty take a hot second on a loose tangent before  sharing a rich array of listeners’ changing room horror stories. They cock-a-leg and wheeze-laugh their way through the fanny-flossers, bush-bashers and shirt-cockers while they ponder the flavours and dangers of a thousand bums at the communal sauna.

We take a peek into the wonders of young Matty’s old mind through the lens of her childhood journal and share a book club recommendation, as well as one to avoid in the interests of your mental wellness.

The book we recommend is: 8 Rules of Love by Jay Shetty
