Susan Lax, Director of Athletics Communications and Public Relations for Football at the University of Kentucky, has been in the Sports Information Industry for over 20 years. Susan takes us through her journey of learning about Sports Information and Media Relations, and her path to working towards her current positions, and how things have changed along the way.
Our conversation with Susan gives a great insight to the daily responsibilities of working in the media relations and public relations sector of the sports industry. Susan also shares advice for young student athletes and coaches in the industry on managing themselves in the public light.

Growing up, Beth DeBauche knew the role that sports could play in communities. Her path to becoming the first female commissioner for the Ohio Valley Conference didn't start working in the sports industry, and her path shows that there isn't just one way to have a career in sports industry.
Along with following her own path, Beth talks about the importance of finding joy in your life.
"If you follow your passion, joy will follow."
