YPDA discusses the election results of the Hawaiʻi State 2020 Primary. Two YPDA members, Adrian Tam and Jeanne Kapela, win their primaries, making this election historic, even if some of our other favorites didn't quite make it. We also talk about what we intend to do next at the state and local level as we move toward the general election on November 3.

The chief of police for Honolulu doesn't think we have a structural racism problem within the department. More generally, it's rare that folks in Hawaiʻi are willing to take a deep, long look at the impacts of structural racism and white supremacy on all our lives. People no like talk about race here. But being "colorblind" to race, and masking it with a "melting pot" veneer only allows the damage to worsen. On this episode, we talk through this critical and often-ignored issue of racism in Hawaiʻi, with a specific emphasis on anti-Blackness here.
