Blues Scale Improv: Kansas City Style‪!‬ Jazz Piano School

    • Music

The "Kansas City" blues scale is a variation on the traditional blues scale. Its sound was codified by musicians from Kansas City, dating all the way back to Count Basie, Jimmy Lunceford, and eventually adopted by the great bebop Saxophonist Charlie Parker. This sound is simple to acquire, yet has a lot of room for variations and depth. In this podcast lesson, Sterling will show you how to incorporate the sound of the Kansas City blues into your improvising.
